The program replaced the Purina Parent Club Partnership (PPCP), which was discontinued in December 2025 after more than two decades and over $9 million raised for canine health research and rescue. Eligible applicants include not-for-profit national breed clubs affiliated with registries such as AKC or UKC, or 501(c)(3) organizations whose primary mission is to promote and preserve specific dog breeds. Applications open each June and are due by September 30, with funding decisions announced in early December. Organizations must reapply annually to continue receiving support.
