The Sloan Writing & Production Awards The Sloan Writing & Production Awards The Sloan Writing & Production Awards ALFRED P. SLOAN FOUNDATION AWARDS AT TISCH SCHOOL OF THE ARTS The Sloan Foundation Grant is designed to assist writers and filmmakers in the creation of entertaining films about science and technology. The goal of the Alfred P.
Sloan Foundation film school program is to influence the next generation of filmmakers to create more realistic and dramatic stories about science and technology and to challenge existing stereotypes about scientists and engineers through the visual media.
Current Tisch students in the Undergraduate and Graduate divisions of the Kanbar Institute of Film and Television and in the Rita and Burton Goldberg Department of Dramatic Writing who are motivated to write and produce new films that challenge existing stereotypes about science and technology. Alumni who have graduated in 2024-25 are eligible to apply for the $10,000 Writing Awards.
UGFTV, Grad Film and DDW students who develop scripts in their last year of classes are eligible to apply up to one year after graduation. The $30,000 Sloan Production Award is also open to UGFTV and Grad Film alumni from 2024 and 2025. Alumni who won the award will produce their films outside of any degree requirements and must provide their own insurance.
The application process and science advisor requirements will remain the same (applications will be due in May). All awarded projects should be between 10-30 minutes. Recipients of the $30,000 Production Award will be given 24 months after notification to complete their films.
