Through its annual grants program, Sun Club provides funding to nonprofits across the country working to create a more sustainable future. From renewable energy projects to educational initiatives, these organizations have used these donations to empower greener communities in every market that Green Mountain Energy serves.
Examples of recent Sun Club grant recipients include: Recipe for Success (Houston, TX): An off-grid solar array with battery storage and rainwater capture system allowed this urban farm to achieve 100% energy and partial water independence.
Wildlife Conservation Society (Bronx, NY): Twelve electric utility vehicles will allow the zoo to transport animals, equipment and staff throughout the zoo more sustainability, reducing emissions in an area with high asthma rates. UH-D Center for Urban Agriculture and Sustainability (Houston, TX): An off-grid ground-mount solar panel system will help create and support sustainable neighborhoods in the Houston area.
Innercity Community Development Corporation (Dallas, TX): A 50. 8 kW rooftop solar array will offset 78% of the building's needs, enabling more community support through homeownership, job training and entrepreneurship programs. Donated over $16 million in sustainability grants.
