The Washington Zero-Emission Vehicle Incentive Program (WAZIP) launched in 2025 to help more businesses switch to commercial medium- and heavy-duty zero-emission vehicles and equipment. Funded by the Climate Commitment Act and managed by the Washington State Department of Transportation, and administered by CALSTART, the program provides point-of-sale discounts to make cleaner vehicles more affordable.
WAZIP follows recommendations from a 2024 state study, is modeled after California’s successful HVIP (Clean Truck and Bus Voucher Program) and CORE (Clean Off-Road Equipment Voucher) programs. It directly supports Washington’s climate and equity goals by cutting transportation emissions and making the benefits of clean technology more accessible.
WAZIP is a new point-of-sale voucher program that lowers the cost of zero-emission vehicles and commercial equipment right at purchase—so buyers don’t have to wait for rebates or file extra paperwork. It applies to medium- and heavy-duty vehicles and off-road commercial equipment, helping fleets replace older, higher-polluting vehicles with cleaner options.
Dealers handle the paperwork and customers see the savings immediately, making it easier and faster to transition to zero-emission technology. WAZIP is funded by Washington’s Climate Commitment Act , managed by the Washington State Department of Transportation, and administered by CALSTART .
Washington Zero-Emission Incentive Program (WAZIP) helps businesses and fleets buy cleaner commercial vehicles and equipment—such as delivery vans, semi-trucks, tractors, and forklifts. The program makes it faster and more affordable to switch to zero-emission options while cutting transportation emissions and supporting the state’s environmental and equity goals. Discounts are applied at the time of purchase, whether new or used.
Open to fleet operators, dealerships, vehicle manufacturers, and transportation businesses in Washington. Provides first-come, first-served vouchers for eligible medium- and heavy-duty vehicles (Class 2b–8) and off-road commercial vehicles and equipment. Dealers must sell approved vehicles/equipment, complete WAZIP training, and handle voucher paperwork.
