The United Nations Federal Credit Union Foundation has awarded $795,000 to 21 grant partners in its 11th year of philanthropy, with a sharp focus on programs serving migrants and refugees globally.

The 2026 grant partners, announced March 6, span six countries and include nonprofit, non-governmental, and UN organizations working to sustain pathways out of poverty for marginalized women and youth.

What the Grants Fund

The Foundation's 2026 portfolio expanded access to skills-based training, quality education, and critical healthcare. Among the highlighted partners: The Floating Hospital, which provides behavioral health services for women and children in New York City, and Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center, delivering integrated medical, sexual and reproductive health, and mental health services to urban youth.

The Foundation also partnered with UNHCR in Sudan and Myanmar, and with UNICEF for emergency humanitarian aid in the Caribbean following Hurricane Melissa.

A Niche Funder Worth Knowing

UNFCU Foundation occupies a specific lane — mid-size grants ($30,000–$50,000 range per partner) for organizations serving displaced populations and marginalized women and youth. Its UN affiliation gives it credibility in international development circles, and its 11-year track record signals institutional stability that larger funders look for when evaluating co-funding partners.

For organizations working in refugee services, women's economic empowerment, or youth development in conflict-affected regions, UNFCU Foundation represents exactly the kind of funder that often goes undiscovered. The Foundation typically opens its next application cycle in late summer.

Building a Multi-Funder Strategy

Organizations serving refugee and immigrant populations should layer UNFCU Foundation funding with complementary sources: UNHCR implementing partner agreements, State Department Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration grants, and foundation funders like the IRC and Open Society. Granted helps organizations map these overlapping opportunities into a coherent funding strategy.
