Smith reynolds foundation's trustees approved funds to engage outside consultants to conduct intensive due diligence in communities across nc. The listed expenditures represent costs associated with consultants reviewing collaborative project summaries from potential applicants, helping with certain aspects relating to the design of collaborative problem-solving grantmaking approach, and providing professional development and coaching for zsr staff as it relates to effectively supporting collaborative work in communities.upon the launch of the all for nc framework grantmaking initiatives, trustees and staff recognized the potential need to increase operational funding to cover additional staffing, technology, etc. To support the new framework. Funds have been allocated to cover contractors (program and administrative) to assist with grant cycle work when needed.

These funds are not used to provide direct grants to grantee organizations but rather to contract services. The listed expenditures represent the engagement of consultants to provide racial equity training to zsr trustees and staff in 2021.

Sabbatical program - in 1990, with prior approval from the irs, the foundation established a sabbatical program for individuals in paid full-time leadership positions who have served their north carolina nonprofit organization for at least three years. The sabbaticals were established to provide an incentive to leaders of charitable organizations to continue their charitable work, and to improve and enhance their leadership capacity, skills, and talents. Each recipient is awarded $30,000 and each recipient's organization is awarded $10,000. Awards are made on a bi-annual basis.
