11th-Grade College Scholarship is sponsored by Great Jobs KC (KC Scholars). This scholarship is for 11th-grade students residing and attending school in Wyandotte or Johnson counties in Kansas, or in Clay, Platte, Jackson, or Cass counties in Missouri.

Ewing Marion Kauffman believed that nothing should stand in the way of anyone who wants to get a college degree.

We agree and make it our mission to help remove the barriers that keep low- and moderate-income students from achieving their dreams of going to college. One of the programs that allows us to help make this a reality for thousands of Kansas City students is our $50,000 College Scholarship for 11th graders. This scholarship provides funds paid directly to the college.

If you’re future plans include a college degree, your future starts NOW! HERE’S HOW TO GET STARTED 11 th -Grade College Scholarship When can I apply for the 11 th -Grade College Scholarship? The 2026 application is closed.

Award notifications will be emailed on May 5, 2026. The 2027 application window is January 7, 2027 at 8:00 a. m.

through February 26, 2027 at 5:00 p. m. The 2027 Awards Day for the Traditional Scholarship is May 4, 2027.

What are the eligibility requirements for the 11 th -Grade College Scholarship? You must meet all of the following requirements to apply: Be a current 11th grader during the application cycle; Live in and/or be home-schooled or attend a public, charter, or private high school in the following six counties: Cass, Clay, Jackson and Platte (MO) or Johnson and Wyandotte (KS); Have at least a 2.

5 cumulative high school unweighted GPA or at least a 16 on the ACT or at least an 800 on the SAT) All applicants must provide proof of grades and credits from five semesters (9th grade to the fall semester of 11th grade). If transcript or grade report documentation does not include the cumulative unweighted GPA, KC Scholars will calculate it during application review. Be income eligible (FAFSA Student Aid Index of 12,000 or less).

To be considered income eligible for the purposes of the Great Jobs KC - KC Scholars application, your Student Aid Index (SAI) calculation on the Federal Student Aid Estimator must be 12,000 or less.

The calculation is based on household income, assets and number of members in the family. It is the amount of annual financial support a family can be expected to pay toward the student’s college education. How many awards will be given?

Do I have to take the ACT or SAT test before I can apply for the 11th-Grade College Scholarship?

If you have at least a 2. 5 cumulative GPA, then you are not required to upload ACT or SAT scores to apply for the scholarship. If you do not have the required minimum 2.

5 cumulative GPA, you are required to upload test scores and have scored at least a 16 on the ACT or 800 on the SAT. If selected, how and when will I receive my scholarship? Selected awardees will begin receiving scholarship funds sent directly to their college or university the fall after high school graduation.

What is the value of the scholarship? The 11 th -Grade College Scholarship is valued up to $50,000 ($5,000 per semester) paid directly to the college up to a bachelor's degree or 6-years of scholarship support. As an 11th-Grade College Scholarship awardee, will I receive any benefits in addition to financial assistance?

Yes! We want to ensure you are successful getting to college, completing your degree, and earning a great paying job. Great Jobs KC pairs its awardees with a Scholar Advocate to support each awardee every step of the way.

Great Jobs KC, its partner school districts and its college and universities partners provide assistance such as one-on-one and group advising, assistance with college admissions and scholarship applications, FAFSA completion assistance, advice for parents and families and campus tours. Scholarships will be paid directly to one of the colleges and universities in our KC Scholars College Network at which you are enrolled. Do I have to attend one of the Great Jobs KC - KC Scholars Scholarship Program partner colleges or universities? Yes.

In order to receive the 11 th -Grade College Scholarship, you must plan to attend one of the Great Jobs KC - KC Scholars Scholarship partner colleges or universities . Can the scholarship pay for dual credit when I am still in high school? No, the 11th-Grade College Scholarship cannot be used toward dual credit classes or other college classes taken during high school.

What if I move out of the eligible six-county area before high school graduation? You must graduate from a public, charter, or private high school or be home-schooled in the six eligible counties to receive this scholarship. Stephanie underwood - Chief financial Officer Stephanie Underwood serves as Chief Financial Officer at Great Jobs KC, where she leads the organization’s financial strategy in support of its mission to create economic mobility through education and workforce opportunities.

With more than 17 years of experience in nonprofit finance, Stephanie brings deep expertise in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance. She is passionate about using her career as a platform to serve and support mission-driven organizations, helping them maximize impact through strong financial stewardship.

Prior to joining Great Jobs KC, Stephanie served as Chief Financial Officer for Griffith Centers, a behavioral and mental health organization, where she oversaw financial operations for a multi-million-dollar organization spanning residential, educational, and community-based programs.

She also spent nearly a decade as Vice President of Accounting Services at NFP Partners, providing CFO-level leadership to nonprofit organizations across the country, with a focus on strategic growth, audit readiness, and governance. Outside of her professional role, Stephanie volunteers her time at her church and serves on the board of a local nonprofit.

She is known for her collaborative leadership style and her commitment to aligning financial strategy with mission impact. She holds a Master of Science in Accounting and is proud to be a first-generation college graduate. Adult Learner College Scholarship Up to $25,000 paid directly to the college over the course of up to six years.

Scholarship can be used towards an associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree, or a credit-bearing credential. Eligibility Requirements: Be a high school graduate or GED holder (24 years or older). Live in one of the six eligible counties.
