Accessibility Information The 2+2 Transfer Scholarship is designed to assist and encourage transfer students from Maryland community colleges to attend a 4-year institution within the state and complete their bachelor's degrees in a timely manner. Students must be enrolled in an eligible accredited Maryland postsecondary institution.
The 2026-2027 2+2 Transfer Scholarship opens January 15, 2026 Opening Date: The 2026-27 academic year application opens on January 15 , 20 26 . Closing Date: The 2026-27 academic year application will close on October 15, 2026 . Award Date : Applications with all required documentation submitted are reviewed and awarded on a rolling basis.
Applicants are encourage d to submit all materials promptly to ensure timely processing and awarding.
Eligibility Requirements: I ndiv iduals applying for the 2+2 Transfer Scholarship for the first time for the 2026-2027 academic year must: Be a resident of Maryland; Submit a 2+2 Transfer Scholarship application via the MHEC One-App in MDCAPS by October 15, 2026; By October 15, 2026: file the 2026-2027 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) ; Students who are ineligible to file the FAFSA may not apply Be attending a Maryland community college with plans to finish an associate's degree by December 2026 OR have completed an associate's degree from a Maryland community in the 2025-2026 academic year; Applicants who complete their associate's degree in the 2025-2026 academic year must be transferring to a 4-year institution for Fall 2026; Applicants who will complete their associate's degree in Fall 2026 must be transferring to a 4-year institution in Spring 2027; Have maintained a minimum cumulative 2.

0 scale while at a Maryland community college; Be transferring to a Maryland public or private nonprofit 4-year higher education institution as a full-time, degree-seeking undergraduate student in the 2026-2027 academic year; Have demonstrated financial need; Student must not have a Student Aid Index (SAI) over $10,000; Cannot have received a bachelor's degree or associate's degree prior to July 2025; Submit all required documentation (see Application Process and Requirements Below) by the listed deadline.
Note: Initial applicants who graduated with their associate's degrees in Fall 2025 cannot be enrolled in a 4-year institution prior to Fall 2026 or they will not be considered eligible for the 2026-2027 2+2 Transfer Scholarship. IMPORTANT: Students who graduated with their associate's degree prior to July 2025 are not eligible to apply for the 2026-2027 2+2 Transfer Scholarship, nor future years of the 2+2 Transfer Scholarship.
Application Process & Documentation Requirements: Applicants must submit the following: 2+2 Transfer Scholarship application through the MHEC One-App on MDCAPS ( https://mdcaps. mhec. state.
md. us ) by October 15, 2026 or earlier ; 2026-2027 FAFSA by October 15, 2026 or earlier ; Student’s transcript from the Maryland community college they are enrolled at with current cumulative GPA by November 15, 2026 or earlier A ppli cations and documentation are reviewed on a rolling basis.
The earlier an applicant is able to submit their application, FAFSA, and community college transcript, the earlier they can be conditionally awarded.
Once a student is conditionally awarded the scholarship, they must submit the following in order for the award to be certified and paid out: Proof of associate’s degree via final community college transcript showing degree conferment date by February 15, 2027 or earlier ; Proof of Selective Service registration for applicable students by February 15, 2027 or earlier Students can learn more about eligibility, registration, and verification via the Selective Service System: https://www.
sss. gov/ . Important Reminder: The only acceptable proof of associate's degree is a final community college transcript showing the degree conferment date.
Diplomas will not be accepted. A n awarded applicant is eligible to receive an award contingent on the availability of funds as follows: Recipients enrolling in a science, teaching, engineering, computer science, mathematics, or nursing program are eligible for $2,000 annually ($1,000 per term). Recipients enrolling in all other programs are eligible for to receive $1,000 annually ($500 per term).
The 2+2 Transfer Scholarship may be used towards tuition and mandatory fees at the 4-year Maryland institution the student has transferred to. All 2+2 Transfer Scholarship awarding is contingent on the availability of funds. The 2+2 Transfer Scholarship can be renewed for up to 3 years, or six terms of study, whichever is longer.
For recipients to remain eligible for the scholarship, they must: Remain eligible for in-state tuition in Maryland; Submit the FAFSA annually; Continue to be enrolled as a full-time, regular degree-seeking undergraduate student at a public or private nonprofit 4-year institution in Maryland; Maintain a minimum cumulative 2.
5 GPA at their enrolled 4-year higher education institution as reported by their institution; Maintain the standards of the institution attended by the recipient. Note: Renewal recipients do not need to submit another application for the award.
