2026-27 Title I, 1003 School Improvement Grant (Coaching for Excellence) by New York State Education Department | Atom Grants 2026-27 Title I, 1003 School Improvement Grant (Coaching for Excellence) This grant funds instructional coaches in NY schools to improve teaching quality through the NYSED Coaching for Excellence program, emphasizing sustained, research-based coaching and professional development.
Funder: New York State Education Department Funding Amounts: Up to $125,000 per instructional coach position (salary & benefits only), for project period July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027 . Summary: Supports eligible NY schools in hiring instructional coaches to participate in the Coaching for Excellence program and improve instructional quality.
Key Information: Strict deadlines; no extensions; only one CFE-funded coach per school; funds cannot be used for other activities. This grant provides funding to eligible New York State Target Districts with schools identified for Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) or Additional Targeted Support and Improvement (ATSI) to hire instructional coaches.
The goal is to enhance instructional quality and teacher support through participation in the NYSED Coaching for Excellence (CFE) program, which offers both Foundational and Elevate coaching paths. The program focuses on building instructional capacity and fostering high-quality teaching practices through sustained, embedded coaching support, in alignment with the CFE Program Theory of Action.
