2025 Grants — Georgia Master Gardeners Association $4,400 to Nine Recipients in 2025! We have awarded $4,400 in grants for 2025 to a total of nine recipients!
The criteria for awarding project grant money includes community value and involvement in horticulture to make a difference, educational value where the funding makes a significant contribution, displays realistic goals and objectives, as well as a maintenance schedule, documents the project for GMGA and the community that instructs and informs so that others may benefit from the work funded and, utilizes as many Master Gardeners as possible.
Below is a synopsis of each grant, the GMGA Master Gardener Project Manager, the amount, and the project description. Bartow County (Renee Carleston) Bartow County Extension greenhouse. Permanent growing bench for training & education of Master Gardeners.
Cherokee County (Mark Teffeau) Funk Heritage Center at Reinhardt University, Cherokee Ethnobotanical Garden educational programming. Cherokee County (Crystal West) Backyard Garden Educational Station in Veterans Park. Cobb County (Gayle Bender) Cobb County Farm Bureau, Wellness Garden.
Columbia County (Jean Kernaghan) Maple Creek Park. Restore Peter Crawford cemetery/green space/park. Dawson County (Lynn Van Horn) Dawson County Library.
Create vegetable garden – budgeted items requested are soil, composter and educational signage. Gilmer County (Julia Padgett) The DIG Demo Garden– Create a water source. Glynn County (Linda Hlozansky) Hand in Hand of Glynn (Tiny Home Community), Raised bed gardens for residents.
Houston County (Donna Hunt) Seating and landscaping near Desert Storm monument.
