For a community to thrive, we need to foster imagination and creativity so individuals of all ages and backgrounds have abundant opportunities to experience diverse forms of creative expression. How We Can See It Through The Farash Foundation is committing its focus on small and mid-size creative arts organizations serving Monroe and Ontario Counties.

We want to help organizations serving diverse communities so that anyone can access the types of arts that they find meaningful. Utilizing creative expression and imagination through visual, literary, and performing arts including music, theater, dance, spoken word, and film. 2.

Additional Considerations We believe our small and mid-size organizations have the power to move people in creative ways. To help bolster our creative arts community, we will partner with organizations that have annual operating budgets of $2 million or less. Education and community are important to the Foundation.

Have an idea about how we can have a vibrant creative arts community? We can't wait to hear it. Frequently Asked Questions There are many local Creative Arts organizations, which are best positioned to receive funding through this program?

Creative arts organizations that facilitate Arts Education programing, prioritizes increased audience engagement, or reduces barriers accessing the arts. Are organizations without 501c3 status eligible? Yes.

These organizations are eligible to apply if using a Fiscal Sponsor. What is your definition of a Fiscal Sponsor? A tax-exempt nonprofit that agrees to receive funds and assume legal and financial responsibility for an organization that doesn’t have tax-exempt status.

Fiscal sponsors may charge a fee to cover the costs of providing services. Would you fund an arts program delivered by an organization with a different mission? Only organizations that have the creative arts explicitly stated as a central part of its core mission, vision, focus and legal purpose and at least 51% of its annual expenditures are allocated specifically to Creative Arts programming and/or services are considered.

What qualifies as Arts Education? Does the arts programming need to be in person or is online acceptable as well? Some examples of Arts Education include scheduled classes, youth programming, spaces to learn and create.

Program space can be determined by audience but should be accessible to those who wish to participate, including in person or virtually. For cultural organizations historically supported by Farash’s arts and culture support that are now ineligible for Creative Arts funding, are there other opportunities available for partnership with Farash?

Organizations that offer Out-of-School Time programming, respond to an emerging community concern, or have an idea for how to celebrate and evolve our Jewish community so it keeps thriving may apply for future consideration in other program areas. For what purpose(s) may organizations use Creative Arts funding? Funds are unrestricted operating grants that can be used in an any capacity the organization decides.

It is not necessary to designate these funds to any program or budget item for the purpose of this grant. The funds are to be used at the organization’s discretion. Can organizations apply for/receive grant funding from more than one of the Foundation’s strategy areas?

Will applications from organizations without a budget, website, or location be accepted? Accepted but not likely to be funded if the Foundation cannot verify where the organization’s activities take place. More information can be found on our Grantseeker Resources page.
