Grant applications must be submitted by 5:00pm on September 30, 2026. Effective July 1, 2025, grantees must complete an online grant agreement form before funds are distributed. The form’s link will be provided via email from CKCF’s grants officer.

2026 marks the inaugural year of the Hillsboro Community Foundation’s Community Health Grant Program. The purpose of this program is to provide funding for projects, programs, and initiatives that address identified community health needs and improve the overall well being of residents in and around the Hillsboro area. Approximately $10,500 in grant funding will be available through this program.

Qualified organizations with innovative ideas and a commitment to improving community health are encouraged to apply. Health Grant Program Guidelines and FAQ Eligibility Requirements and Funding Guidelines Eligible applicants include federal tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organizations, schools, government entities, and churches serving the Hillsboro area. Grant requests must be at least $2,000 and support projects or programs that address community health needs and benefit the broader community.

Organizations that are not independently eligible may apply through an approved fiscal sponsor. What If my organization does not meet the eligibility requirements? Organizations that do not meet the eligibility requirements may still be able to participate through a fiscal sponsorship arrangement.

Under this model, an eligible federally tax-exempt organization agrees to serve as the fiscal sponsor for the project and assumes responsibility for receiving and administering grant funds on the project's behalf. The fiscal sponsor must provide oversight and ensure that grant funds are used in accordance with the approved proposal.

Applicants considering this option are encouraged to contact the Foundation prior to applying to discuss eligibility and sponsorship requirements. How much funding is available? The Community Health Grant Program has approximately $10,500 available for distribution.

Grant requests must be a minimum of $2,000, with no maximum award amount established. Applications will be evaluated through a competitive review process and scored based on the merit, impact, and alignment of the proposed project or program with community health needs. The number and size of grant awards will depend on the quality and quantity of applications received, as well as the funds available for distribution.

Upon review by the HCF grant review committee, all submissions are subject to the process, procedures, and rules of the Central Kansas Community Foundation. Additional information may be requested for clarification. Does the application have to be submitted online?

Yes. Completed applications must be submitted online here . When will grants be issued?

Awarded applicants are typically notified 4-6 weeks after the application window closes. This timeframe allows the HCF grants review committee to analyze each application and CKCF's grant officer to perform necessary due diligence. Effective July 1, 2025, grantees must complete an online grant agreement form before funds are distributed.

The form's link will be provided via email from CKCF's grants officer. Our organization received a grant last year. Are we required to submit a follow-up or impact report before applying for a grant this year?

Yes. Submission of an impact report from the previous grant cycle is required to be eligible for grants in the current year. Grantees who do not submit an impact report will be ineligible for grants for two years.

Please contact the Foundation Grants Officer at 316-251-4143 for more information. Can I apply for a grant to help with operational costs? No. Community Health Grant Program funds are not intended to support general organizational operating expenses, even if the applicant offers health services.

Funding requests must be tied to specific projects, programs, or initiatives that address identified community health needs and demonstrate a clear benefit to residents of the Hillsboro area. Our project is already completed. Can we still apply for a grant?

No. Grants may not be awarded retroactively for projects or programs. Please ensure that the project or program will not occur until after grants are estimated to be made. Tentative award date is early November.

Is a follow-up or impact report required, and if so, what is the reporting deadline? Yes. All grantees are required to submit an impact report at the conclusion of the project or program.

If no impact report is submitted, then the organization is ineligible to receive any new grants for two years. The project or program must be completed, and an impact report must be submitted by June 1, 2027 . Find the 2026 Impact Report form here .
