Through a new three-year commitment, RARA will support pilot research projects and fellowships aimed at deepening our scientific understanding of CAPD and its relationship to autism. This investment will help accelerate research that may improve identification, interventions and supports for autistic people with CAPD and their families.
## Advancing research on autism and central auditory processing disorder Over the years, the partnership between Autism Speaks and RARA has contributed to research that has expanded our understanding of how autistic people process speech and sound; explored connections between auditory processing and communication, sleep and sensory differences; and developed new tools and intervention approaches.
Many of our funded pilot projects have grown into much larger research initiatives, going on to secure additional federal support and build momentum for continued discovery. “Early-stage research funding plays a critical role in translating promising ideas into meaningful scientific progress,” said Andy Shih, chief science officer at Autism Speaks.
“Through our partnership with Royal Arch Research Assistance, we have been able to expand the knowledge base around auditory processing in autism while building a pipeline of investigators whose work continues to shape and advance the field. ” ### New funding and networking opportunities We are deeply grateful to RARA for their continued trust, partnership and commitment to improving lives through research.
