2026 State of NJ Grant RFP - The Food Bank of South Jersey 2026 State of NJ Grant RFP Funding Request Overview and Guidelines The Food Bank of South Jersey (FBSJ) invites organizations located in Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, and Salem counties to submit proposals for capacity-building funding.

The purpose of this grant opportunity is to strengthen organizational capacity so that groups can increase the amount of food distributed to individuals and families in need in their communities. Both current partner agencies and organizations that are not currently partnered with FBSJ are eligible to apply. The application will open on May 22 and must be submitted online via this form .

A Q&A period will be held from May 22–May 29 to address any questions about eligibility or the application process. Questions must be submitted through this form . Responses to all submitted questions will be compiled and posted by June 3 at this webpage .

All applications must be submitted by June 10 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time . Award notifications will be announced by June 19 . Selected applicants will receive additional instructions regarding grant agreements, required documentation, and next steps to ensure funds are obligated by June 30, 2026 , and fully expended by August 31, 2026 .

Organizations that received one or more FBSJ grants in 2025 may apply only for items not previously funded in 2025. Priority consideration will be given to organizations that did not receive FBSJ funding in 2025. Award amounts will be based on an itemized request list submitted with the application and accompanied by three (3) quotes and other supporting cost documentation as applicable.

FBSJ will review supporting documentation (e.g. quotes, etc.) to ensure that State guidelines are followed, and the proposed purchase meets the criteria for an allowable purchase. All vehicle requests require State approval and are capped at $30,000 per request. FBSJ reserves the right to make partial awards.

Award recipients must submit receipts and a copy of the ACH or cleared check to FBSJ Accounting . The State reserves the right to repossess equipment if it is not used as specified or if the agency exits food security operations. Acceptable requests include but are not limited to: Equipment is intended to support food storage and distribution operations.

The organization confirms it has the capacity to house, operate, and properly use the equipment in compliance with all applicable food safety and regulatory requirements. The organization assumes full responsibility for all ongoing costs associated with the equipment, including utilities, routine maintenance, and repairs.

2026 State of NJ Grant Eligibility Criteria This document outlines the minimum eligibility and compliance requirements for organizations applying for the 2026 State of NJ Grant funding. 1. Organizational Eligibility Be a 501(c)(3) public charity, an organization wholly owned by a public charity, or a faith‑based organization that serves individuals who are ill, food insecure, or otherwise in need.

Operate programs that are mission‑aligned with hunger relief, food access, nutrition, or basic needs of support. Be in good standing with state and federal regulatory bodies 2. Program & Community Alignment Applicants must demonstrate that proposed State of NJ Grant activities: Directly enhance food access, nutrition security, or operational capacity serving food‑insecure populations.

Serve communities within FBSJ’s service area. Are responsive to documented community needs and not duplicative of existing services without clear justification. 3.

Non‑Discrimination & Equity Commitment Maintain and enforce a non-discrimination policy that aligns with Federal and State guidelines. Provide services equitably, without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, citizenship, veteran status, or other protected characteristics. 4.

Food Safety & Operational Readiness (if applicable) Organizations handling or distributing food must: Demonstrate the ability to store, handle, and transport food safely, including temperature control for perishable items. Use facilities and vehicles that prevent contamination or adulteration of food. Confirm that food is not stored in private residences.

Prove staff handling food have current food safety training and certification. 5. Accountability, Reporting & Monitoring Applicants must agree to: Pursuant to the grant agreement, any awards made under this RFP prior to State approval will not be eligible for reimbursement.

Use State of NJ Grant funds solely for approved purposes. Maintain accurate financial and programmatic records related to grant‑funded activities. Submit required progress and outcome reports in a timely manner.

Permit site visits or monitoring activities related to grant compliance, if requested. 6. Ethical Use of Resources Applicants must certify that they will not: Sell, trade, or barter food or grant‑funded resources.

Charge clients for food or services supported by the State of NJ Grant. Use food or grant‑funded resources for staff compensation, incentives, fundraising events, or internal consumption. 7.

Data Privacy & Confidentiality Maintain appropriate safeguards to protect participant privacy and data confidentiality. Failure to meet eligibility requirements applies only to applications that are incomplete (missing all required components for a complete submission) or to organizations that are debarred from doing business with the State of New Jersey.
