2027 Fellowships and Grants · Asian Cultural Council - Monographica 2027 Fellowships and Grants Prizes Fellowship Up to $35,000 / $38,000 The Asian Cultural Council has funded cultural exchange between the United States and Asia since 1963 - more than $100 million across nearly 6,000 exchanges - and its 2027 grant cycle opens on 1 October 2026.
For photographers, who apply under Visual Art, the relevant programmes are the Individual Fellowship and, for artists based in Asia, the New York Fellowship.
The Individual Fellowship funds one to six months of self-directed research, exploration and cultural immersion in a country new or less familiar to the applicant - meeting peers, visiting institutions, joining workshops, working in archives - with a maximum award of $35,000; it can be a joint fellowship of up to three artists sharing the same goals.
The New York Fellowship brings a cohort from Asia to live in New York for six months on a $38,000 grant, free from any obligation to produce or present work, with ACC support, group programming and optional housing at International House. Both are explicitly not production grants: ACC will not fund a documentary shoot, research for a planned book or exhibition, a residency to make new work, or travel to a single event.
Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the US or one of 25 listed Asian countries and regions, at least 21, with five years of professional experience, and may not propose travel to the country they currently live in; funded activity must fall between 1 August 2027 and 31 December 2028.
Applications go through ACC's GoApply portal from 1 October and close at 9:59am US Eastern on 10 November 2026, with letters of recommendation due by 16 November; decisions follow a November-to-April review and are sent in mid-May 2027. There is no application fee, and applicants may apply to only one programme per cycle.
