Whether a business owner is looking to improve a commercial space, a homeowner wants to enhance their property’s exterior, or a nonprofit organization is seeking support for community programming, the CRA has programs worth exploring. Each year, eligible applicants may miss out on available funding simply because they are unaware of what is offered.

Here is a straightforward overview of the programs currently available and how to get started. Funding Assistance for Businesses and Commercial Properties The CRA offers three programs aimed at supporting commercial property improvements and business development within the district.

One important note: the Project Consultancy & Design Services Program and the Site Development Assistance Program are available only to new and existing tenants in CRA-owned properties. The Paint-Up & Signage Program is open to businesses throughout the broader CRA District.

The Project Consultancy & Design Services Program provides funding to cover project consultancy and professional design services to commercial tenants in CRA-owned properties located in high-priority areas, including the Northwest and Southwest Neighborhoods, the West Atlantic Avenue corridor, and the Osceola Park commercial area.

It is intended for properties where a lack of investment or aging facilities has created a need for improvement. Applicants must apply before beginning any construction work. Projects that get underway prior to CRA Board approval can be automatically disqualified from funding.

The Site Development Assistance Program offers a partial reimbursement for a variety of interior and exterior improvements to eligible commercial and multi-family buildings. Like the Project Consultancy & Design Services Program, it is available exclusively to new and existing tenants in CRA-owned properties. Again, applicants must apply before construction begins.

The Paint-Up & Signage Program is available to a wider range of businesses throughout the CRA District and is designed to help commercial property owners and businesses refresh the exterior of their buildings through a fresh coat of paint and updated signage. This program is a practical starting point for businesses looking to improve their curb appeal and presence in the community.

Funding Assistance for Homeowners The Curb Appeal Residential Improvement Program , created in 2007, provides grants of up to $15,000 to owners of single-family homes and duplexes in the Northwest and Southwest Neighborhoods of the CRA District.

The program covers the cost of minor exterior property improvements, which can improve the appearance of a residential dwelling and increase property value. Funding is budgeted on an annual basis and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, so homeowners are encouraged to inquire early. Funding Assistance for Nonprofit Organizations The CRA’s A-GUIDE program — Achieving Goals Using Impact Driven Evaluation — provides grant funding to nonprofit organizations whose missions align with the CRA’s redevelopment goals.

To be eligible, organizations must be classified as 501(c)(3) nonprofits in good standing with the State of Florida, housed in City- or CRA-owned facilities within the CRA District, and able to demonstrate that their programs serve residents or visitors of the district.
