Aadhar Grant

Aadhar Grant is sponsored by Tewa (Women's Fund in Nepal). The Aadhar Grant recognizes and strengthens women's organizations working on women's rights in Nepal. Tewa supports initiatives that empower women, amplify their voices, and contribute to feminist movement building.

Grant-making has been the heart of Tewa’s work since its inception. From its very first year, Tewa has provided grants to support diverse women’s groups across Nepal, helping to uplift their socio-economic conditions and amplify their voices in the community. Tewa provides grants to empower women by enabling them to remain organised, achieve their goals, and drive meaningful change.

Gender Discrimination & Violence Against Women (VAW) Organizational Development and Sustainability Feminist Humanitarian Support Feminist Movement Building Rights of Marginalized Women Socio-Economic empowerment and rights From 1997, Tewa has disbursed 76 grants across 34 districts. Since the beginning, the 1232 grant has been distributed.

Tewa’s Grant-Making Strategy is guided by the following objectives: Transforming lives : Supporting initiatives that empower women, especially those who are vulnerable and marginalised, by strengthening their capacity. Enhancing leadership and decision-making : Amplifying women’s voices and increasing their visibility in society.

Strengthening movement-building : Creating a critical mass of women who can participate in advocacy, influence policies, and contribute to political change. Tewa’s grants fall under four key categories: Aadhar Grant – Recognising and strengthening women’s organisations working on women’s rights. Samman Grant – Supporting grassroots women’s organisations in their early stages as per needs of community women.

Surakshya Grant (Discretionary Grant) – Providing urgent support for advocacy and emergency response related to women’s human rights issues. Founder’s Fund Grant – Honouring organisations dedicated to the rights and well-being of women and girls in Nepal. Tewa is committed to building the skills and knowledge of grantee partners, ensuring their long-term sustainability and visibility.

Tewa provides training, workshops, and networking opportunities to enhance their ability to advocate for positive change. Mentorship Programme provides direct guidance and support for grantee partners. This initiative helps emerging organisations build and strengthen organizational development capacities and create second-line leadership.

Learning, Monitoring & Evaluation (L,M&E) Tewa believes in continuous learning and improvement. Learning, Monitoring & Evaluation (L, M&E) process helps us assess the effectiveness of the direct grant and ensures accountability. Tewa works closely with its partners to measure changes and learnings, and share best practices.
