Through scholarships and training, we prepare the next generation of skilled builders — and when disaster strikes, we deliver critical materials and mobilize crews to help communities recover.
Apply for Assistance Support Our Mission Florida's construction industry is facing a growing workforce crisis. Over the past two decades, the number of skilled tradespeople has declined by more than 10%, while the average construction worker is now 42 years old. At the very moment our state is experiencing unprecedented growth, the pipeline of trained construction professionals is shrinking.
The homes we live in, the schools our children attend, and the infrastructure our communities depend on all rely on a strong construction workforce. Without it, progress slows, costs rise, and entire communities feel the impact. That is where the Florida Home Builders Foundation — and supporters like you — step in.
We are closing this gap by investing directly in people. Through scholarships, education, and career resources, we open doors for students and workers to enter and succeed in the construction industry. But our work does not stop there.
When disaster strikes, construction workers are among the first to answer the call. The Foundation stands beside them, delivering critical building materials to the hardest-hit areas and mobilizing skilled labor to help families and communities rebuild stronger than before. Donate, sponsor, or volunteer. Every contribution builds the workforce that builds Florida. Scholarships and support programs for students and workers entering or advancing in construction trades.
The Foundation offers programs spanning workforce skills training and disaster relief — designed to meet students and workers where they are. Up to $500 for high school students entering the construction industry who need help purchasing essential tools. Travel Assistance / Gas Card Up to $500 for students starting careers in construction who need help with work-related travel expenses.
Accelerated Skills Training Up to $1,500 for students pursuing short-term construction training programs (18 months or less). College Tuition Assistance Up to $1,500 for students at Florida secondary or post-secondary institutions pursuing construction-related careers. When natural disasters strike Florida communities, the construction industry is often impacted firsthand while also leading the effort to rebuild.
