HRSA has a focus on those who are medically vulnerable or live in areas with limited access to care.

This program is designed to prepare individuals who have been underrepresented in the profession, including those from rural areas, to successfully apply to dental school.

Geographic coverage: Nationwide Sponsors: State University of New York, University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine (UBSDM) Academy of General Dentistry Foundation Grant Program Grant support for nonprofit community-based outreach programs that provide free oral cancer screenings and education to the public, especially underserved communities that lack access to oral healthcare due to geographic and/or economic hardship.

Geographic coverage: Nationwide Sponsor: Academy of General Dentistry Dental Preventive Clinical Support Program Grants to address the challenges and opportunities associated with IHS preventive and clinical dental programs.

The program goals are to provide support, guidance, training, and enhancement of dental programs within their area and to ensure that the services of the support centers and the dental programs result in measurable improvements in the oral health status of the American Indian/Alaska Native patients served.

Programs should prepare postdoctoral trained dentists to improve access to and delivery of oral healthcare delivery to underserved and rural populations.
