All NSF grants and cooperative agreements are subject to the applicable set of NSF award terms and conditions . NSF has updated its research security policies for NSF funded projects. Supports fundamental research on advanced manufacturing, materials and service processes; their integration into facilities, supply chains, and other systems; and the optimal operation and design of these systems.
The Advanced Manufacturing, Design, and Operations (AMDO) program aims to transform domestic manufacturing and build resilient supply chains. AMDO bolsters national priorities in advanced manufacturing and related areas for connected, smart and intelligent systems. Its investments strengthen U.S. competitiveness, high-value jobs, and the economy.
The AMDO program supports fundamental research on manufacturing processes, systems and services. It supports the integration of processes and information into systems ranging from single facilities to complex supply chains. AMDO also supports the secure, effective and efficient operation and design of these systems at different scales of time and complexity.
The AMDO program seeks to accelerate advances in materials processing and manufacturing; these advances significantly improve existing capabilities or lead to new ones. The program supports generalizable methods and frameworks for integrating manufacturing processes and equipment in systems. Of special interest are those that make use of advances in robotics, artificial intelligence, and augmented and virtual reality.
The program also supports research on theories and methods for the design of products, services, processes, materials, and systems. The AMDO program invests in new analytical methods to aid decision-making in the design and operation of manufacturing systems. Partnerships: To speed discovery and innovation, NSF partners with federal agencies, industry, international groups, and others.
