Aed Placement Program | Iowa Heart Center Foundation Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) strikes more than 350,000 Americans each year — nearly one death every two minutes. Giving CPR and using an automated external defibrillator (AED) early nearly doubles the chance of survival. For each minute without such treatment, the chance of survival decreases 7–10 percent.
The Iowa Heart Foundation awards AEDs in an effort to increase survival rates for people who experience SCA. As of October 2025 - The AED program is open. Eligibility - Iowa non-profit organizations, government entities, and public and private schools.
Applications will be reviewed monthly, scored and priority for placement will be awarded based upon location, the number of individuals served, plans for implementation. If you are interested in sponsoring an AED in your local community, please contact Oscar at oscar@iowaheartfoundation. org.

NCI Continuing Umbrella of Research Experiences (CURE) Academic Career Excellence (ACE) Award (K32) is a grant from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) that funds early postdoctoral fellows from diverse backgrounds, including underrepresented groups, to pursue research training in cancer-related fields. The K32 award supports fellows within 12 months prior to transitioning into, or within the first two years of, a postdoctoral position. The program, operated through NCI's Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities (CRCHD), aims to enhance the pool of qualified diverse cancer researchers. Beginning with the June 12, 2025 due date, the CURE ACE Award is available in both Independent Clinical Trial Required and Independent Clinical Trial Not Allowed versions. Eligible applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents at time of award.
