This is the second application cycle for this grant and only applicants from the following countries may apply: Namibia; Mauritania; Senegal; Cote d’Ivoire; Malawi; Uganda; and Zambia.
Award: USD$50,000 – USD$100,000 to each of the selected winners Applicants must be woman-owned to be considered and 100% African-owned and managed; legally registered and operating in the country from which they make application, with basic functional management and financial controls for at least 3 years and banking history of no less than 12 months.
Majority (OVER 50 percent)woman applicant-owned and managed - 100 percent African owned In operation and legally registered for at least three years The business is located and operates in a designated USADF program country. Proposal for use of grant money Business owners are not government employees. Corporate Social Investments (CSI) - Capacity Development Programmes is a grant from the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) South Africa that funds skills development, entrepreneurship, and community capacity-building initiatives targeting youth, women, and marginalized South African communities. The program supports accredited training, sustainable community projects, financial literacy programs for SMMEs, and capacity-building for nonprofits and community-based organizations. Eligible applicants include registered nonprofit organizations, nonprofit companies with PBO status, and public institutions operating for more than 12 months with acceptable governance structures. Science Granting Councils Initiative (SGCI) Multilateral Research Call in support of STISA 2034 (Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies) is sponsored by Science Granting Councils Initiative (SGCI). This call supports the African Union's Science, Technology and Innovation Strategy for Africa 2034 (STISA-2034), with one of five thematic streams targeting Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies, framed around a more integrated and connected continent. It funds research avenues in applications (AI tools addressing priority sectors like agriculture, health, environment, and education) and learning and entrepreneurship (STEM and AI skills programs for African youth, women, and researchers, and support for digital and AI-enabled startups).
AI4D Responsible AI, Empowering People is the second multi-year phase of the AI for Development (AI4D) program jointly funded by Canada's International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and the UK FCDO. The program funds responsible AI research, AI public policy, AI talent and education, and the scaling of AI innovations addressing development challenges across Africa, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific. Funding streams cover applied AI research, networks of African AI institutions, women in AI, AI for climate adaptation, and policy capacity.
