School Nutrition Programs – Delaware Department of Education School Nutrition Programs (SNP) School Nutrition Programs ddoe_admin 2026-07-31T08:43:21-04:00 The School Nutrition Programs (SNP) provide healthy and nutritious meals to children in Delaware.

SNP includes five programs: National School Lunch Program (NSLP), School Breakfast Program (SBP), Special Milk Program (SMP), Afterschool Snack Program (ASSP), and the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) grant program.

Community Eligibility Program Child Nutrition Program State Waiver Request National School Lunch Program (NSLP) The National School Lunch Program is a federally assisted meal program that provides nutritionally balanced, low-cost or free lunches to students in public and non-profit private schools and residential child care institutions.

Special Milk Program Links 7 CFR Part 215 – Special Milk Program for Children USDA Special Milk Program Afterschool Snack Program (ASSP) The National School Lunch Program offers cash reimbursement to schools that serve credible snacks to students in supervised educational enrichment programs after the regular school day.

Afterschool Snack Program Links Afterschool Snack Program vs. At-Risk Snacks USDA Afterschool Snack Program Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) is a federally assisted program providing free fresh fruits and vegetables to children at eligible elementary schools during the school day.

The goal of the FFVP is to introduce children to fresh fruits and vegetables, to include new and different varieties, and to increase overall acceptance and consumption of fresh, unprocessed produce among children. The FFVP also encourages healthier school environments by promoting nutrition education. The FFVP is a grant program, with Requests for Application (RFA) announced in late spring/early summer.

All public and non-profit private elementary schools are eligible to apply for funding. Schools with the highest percentage of students certified for free and reduced-price meals receive priority for awards.

2023 – 2024 School Year Program Participation Best Practices for Handling Fresh Produce Translated Meal Benefit Forms (MBF) DE Specific MBF Instructions Delaware Prototype Meal Benefit Form 2023 – 2024 Administrative Review Information The USDA requires the State agency to post a summary of the most recent final administrative review results for each School Food Authority on the State agency’s website ( 7 CFR 210. 18(m) ).

This requirement is effective for SY 16-17 and forward. These finding summaries will be updated once all findings have been corrected and the review has been closed. Final administrative review reports are available to the public upon request.

In accordance with 7 CFR §210. 18(p) , a local education agency may appeal DDOE’s findings arising from administrative activity and resulting in the denial of all or part of the Claim for Reimbursement or withholding payment.
