Community Foundation awards $30K in ag education grants Add Us On Google Add as a preferred source on Google QUINCY (WGEM) - The Community Foundation Serving West Central Illinois & Northeast Missouri awarded $30,000 to seven organizations through its AgForward grant program.
The grants are designed to fund agricultural programs and initiatives focused on spreading innovation through agriculture, with an ultimate goal of strengthening hands-on learning — from classroom programs to new equipment and career pathway projects. “Every grant through AgForward is a vote of confidence in our region’s future; its students, its workforce, its economy,” said Catherine Meckes, Community Foundation CEO.
“That confidence traces back to Mr. Richter, whose generosity built a foundation for agricultural education that will outlast all of us, and to Compeer Financial, whose Rural Collaboration Project helps that foundation reach even further. ” Development Officer Emily Moore said the grants carry long-term significance for the region.
“The bigger picture is that every grant is a vote of confidence in the future of agriculture in our community, whether that’s in educators themselves, and the programs themselves, or the students,” Moore said. “It’s going to strengthen agriculture for years to come that will outlast all of us. ” Program Officer Bailee Duesterhaus said the awards will reach a wide range of people and programs.
“This impact, I can’t even explain what it means to the Community Foundation,” Duesterhaus said. “It’s going to hit so many different — the population from college students to chicken coops to Bella Ease to don’t get introduced to ag to classroom base. ” The Adams County Farm Bureau is among the seven recipients.
It will use its grant funds to purchase two pedal tractors for Ag in the Classroom.
The 2026 AgForward grant recipients are: Adams County Farm Bureau — Two Pedal Tractors for Adams County Ag in the Classroom Bella Ease — Agricultural and Nature Program Hannibal-LaGrange University — Chicken Coop for Agribusiness Illinois Agricultural Leadership Foundation — Experiential Agriculture Education North Shelby School District — Agricultural Career Pathways Initiative Paris R-II — Back to Basics; Hands-on Animal Science Materials Unity High School — Electrathon Car This is the second year the foundation has awarded AgForward grants.
The program is made possible by the Bob W. Richter Endowment for Agricultural Education and the Compeer Financial Rural Collaboration Project. Through that project, Compeer Financial has committed more than $1.
4 million to 14 community and initiative foundations across Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.
