Agriculture & Environment Program - Alberta Innovates Agriculture & Environment Program This funding program is designed to foster innovation and promote sustainable practices. Program Status refers to the state of work going on within this particular program. If the Program is 'Active', it is either accepting new applications or research is currently underway.
If the Program is 'Inactive', the Program is neither accepting new applications nor is any research being conducted. Intake Status refers to the state of the Program's call for new applications. If the Intake is displaying 'Open', the Program is accepting new applications.
If the Intake is displaying 'Closed', the Program is not accepting new applications. This funding program is designed to foster innovation and promote sustainable practices.
Agriculture/Environment Program - Program Guide Academic Institutions & Researchers Government or Public Entity Individual or Sole Proprietor Multi-National Enterprise Small to Medium Enterprise The Agriculture & Environment (AE) business unit actively assists researchers, innovators, entrepreneurs, and industry clients to accelerate technology development and deployment, helping companies expand their businesses and competitiveness.
Additionally, we support applied research and knowledge translation at post-secondary institutions and other organizations with sightlines to advance environmental sustainability through application of knowledge to support improved policy and best practice.
Our collaborative initiatives are designed to foster innovation and promote sustainable practices across various sectors including agriculture, forestry, energy, provincial and municipal governments, and others, with application from forests and grasslands, industrial sites, public and private lands, and large urban centres to rural, remote and Indigenous communities.
We provide the Government of Alberta (GOA) with scientific and technical expertise on natural resource management, agriculture, economic diversification, emissions reduction, and environmental policy issues. The AE business unit has three funding programs: Agriculture & Food Innovation; Bioindustrial & Circular Innovation; and Environmental Innovation.
Each funding program has priority focus areas for investment, and all three programs are open for funding applications through this continuous intake application process.
Agriculture/Environment Program - Continuous Intake Funding is open to all categories of lead applicant including technology developers, industry, industrial associations, small and medium-sized enterprises, research and development (R&D) organizations, post-secondary institutions, municipalities, not-for-profit organizations, government research labs, individuals and others, who are advancing applied research or technology development within a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) range of 3-7.
Applicants are not required to be based in Alberta, but must demonstrate a clear value proposition for the Province and be able to clearly demonstrate alignment to the program area priorities. We will prioritize projects taking place in Alberta with long-term positive impacts for the Province. Register on SmartSimple , our online application portal. Complete and submit the Expression of Interest Form in SmartSimple. Wait for your Expression of Interest Form to be reviewed to determine if the proposed project will be invited to submit a Detailed Proposal.
We review all applications to determine fit with program objectives and intended outcomes. During the review process, Alberta Innovates leverages internal staff and external reviewers with subject-matter and business expertise to evaluate applications submitted. Proposed projects will be evaluated against criteria in three major categories: Innovation; Execution; and Impacts.
