14 – Why Students Trust ChatGPT: Dr. Julie Carpenter on AI Literacy, Attachment, and Human Learning When AI Skeptics and Enthusiasts Sit Down Together: An Insight Debate at Berkeley City College Engineering Pathways Program In its inaugural year, UCLA’s Engineering Pathways Program welcomed 145 transfer students from 49 unique California Community Colleges into engineering programs across nearly every undergraduate-serving UC and half of the CSUs.
Through a virtual summer bridge program that closes pre-transfer knowledge gaps and access to technical internships for real-world experience, the project helps students arrive prepared and ready to succeed. Now scaling to 300 students from 77 unique California Community Colleges and doubling its industry partners in year two, the program is building the diverse, career-ready engineering workforce California needs.

AI Challenge: grant opportunities In 2024, Learning Lab launched two AI Challenge Grants to promote AI-integrated innovation in teaching and learning at California Community Colleges (CCC), and California State University (CSU) and University of California (UC) campuses.

The Robotics Grant Program is a grant from the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) that funds school-based robotics programs for elementary, middle, and high school students. Awarded through a competitive application process, the program provides up to $3,500 to eligible local education agencies (LEAs) in Alabama. Applicants must be public school systems submitting on behalf of schools with K–12 students. The grant supports the purchase of robotics equipment and program development aligned with AMSTI guidelines. Applications are submitted online through the AMSTI Robotics Grant portal.
