## AI Safety Research Fund — Ensuring advanced AI is a benefit to humanity left to Artificial Superintelligence Based on the AI Futures Project prediction > "We refer to the question: What sort of creature man's next successor in the supremacy of the earth is likely to be. We have often heard this debated; but it appears to us that we are ourselves creating our own successors;" AI capabilities are advancing at an unprecedented pace.
What once seemed decades away is now projected to arrive within years. **The window to ensure AI goes well is closing. ** We need rigorous research now, on interpretability, alignment, and control, to ensure that advanced AI systems are beneficial, safe, and aligned with human values.
The time to act is today. Billions are flowing into building advanced AI. But comparatively little is being invested into making sure that AI goes well.
The world is dangerously underprepared for what may be the most transformative technology of our time. AI safety research makes up an estimated 2% of all AI research Directly related to AI safety (2%) Less relevant to AI safety (98%) For methodology and caveats, see the Research Almanac documentation.

Zero applications required. Selected projects are featured on our website to be funded next. We maintain a current lineup of projects, adding new ones as donations fully fund the existing queue.
No lengthy application. Just share links to your actual research, papers, or projects. Zero extra hours required.
We actively seek out great work. Scouts can nominate underfunded researchers and earn leaderboard recognition. Selected projects are featured on our website as next in line.
Once we raise enough for current projects, we add new ones to the queue. All grants publicly reported with reasoning (unless recipient requests anonymity) ### Our Evaluation Frameworks We use rigorous, transparent frameworks to evaluate AI safety research and prioritize funding. **The counterfactual to this project is: nothing happens.
** There's no one else building this. Without it, promising researchers go unfunded, important but unconventional ideas stay dormant, and donors with small-to-medium capacity have no clear path to contribute. Time is not on our side.
The safety community needs more scalable and responsive funding infrastructure. Join us in ensuring the future of AI is safe, sane, and human-aligned.

The NSF Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program makes roughly $68 million available to fund the pipeline of STEM majors and professionals into K-12 classrooms in high-need districts, with awards up to $3.25 million and a full-proposal deadline on the last Tuesday of August 2026. For this cycle, NSF has waived the Track 2 and Track 3 cost-sharing requirement — a change that quietly removes the single biggest barrier for many applicant institutions. Here is how the four tracks work and how to build a competitive proposal.
