Skip navigation and go to the main content Since 1992, the Alabama Business Charitable Trust Fund (ABC Trust) established by Alabama Power has been dedicated to empowering Alabamians through vital programs, grants, and energy assistance, working alongside local agencies to foster sustainable, energy-efficient solutions and support essential human services.
Alabama Business Charitable Trust Fund The Alabama Business Charitable Trust Fund, known as the ABC Trust, was established by Alabama Power to help meet the energy needs of Alabamians. For more than 30 years, the ABC Trust has partnered with Community Action Agencies, nonprofits, and the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) to help pay energy bills, conduct weatherization projects, and support basic human needs.
The ABC Trust also supports nonprofits by providing grants for energy efficient upgrades and health and human service projects. Because the ABC Trust operates under different guidelines than many government energy assistance programs, families that do not qualify for federal energy assistance may benefit from the Trust’s programs. The ABC Trust is not funded with ratepayer dollars.
The ABC Trust touches Alabamians across 60 counties in central and south Alabama. Colbert, DeKalb, Jackson, Lauderdale, Limestone, Madison and Morgan counties are outside the Trust’s coverage area. Since our beginning in 1992, we’ve accomplished so much.
The ABC Trust is designed to ease the burden of Alabama families by offering energy related assistance beyond what federal programs may provide. The Trust expands access to critical help so households can keep the lights on, stay safe during extreme weather, and maintain housing stability.
For more than three decades, this commitment has strengthened families, supported local communities, and delivered meaningful relief across central and south Alabama.
