There are two Classroom Grant application cycles for up to $1,000 in funding: Cycle 1: Application opens February 9, 2026, and closes February 20, 2026 Cycle 2: Application opens September 14, 2026, and closes September 25, 2026 How Classroom Grant Applications Are Evaluated Clear Purpose and Student Impact: Applications must clearly outline how grant funds will be used and describe the expected impact on students, including an estimate of how many students will benefit.

Eligible Applicants: Educators serving students in grades K through 12 are eligible to apply. Priority Consideration: Priority is given to Title I public schools and schools where at least 50 percent of full-time students receive free or reduced meals. Preference is also given to schools located within Alabama Power’s service territory.

Nonprofit Partnerships: Nonprofits that partner with schools may apply. Applications must be submitted in the school’s name, and grant funds will be distributed directly to the school. Mental Health Partnerships: Nonprofits providing mental health support in partnership with a school must coordinate with the school to complete all required information in the grant application.

Application Review Process: All applications are reviewed for compliance with Classroom Grant guidelines. When possible and submitted before the deadline, applicants may be notified if revisions are needed. Applications submitted on the final day cannot be modified if issues are identified.

How Classroom Grants Can Be Used Classroom grants are designed to directly support student learning and strengthen the overall classroom experience.

Examples of eligible uses include, but are not limited to: Basic classroom supplies that support daily instruction Classroom sets of books to enhance literacy and engagement Books, furniture, or media equipment for school libraries Resources that support student mental health and Social Emotional Learning Tutoring programs or materials that help address learning loss Events or initiatives to strengthen a school’s engagement with families and communities in support of students Sanitation supplies to promote a safe and healthy learning environment Each proposed use should clearly demonstrate how the funding will positively impact students and contribute to academic success.
