Rice Charitable Foundation The Albert W. Rice Charitable Foundation was established in 1959 to support and promote quality educational, human services and health care programming for underserved populations. Grants from this foundation are distributed to charitable organizations that serve the people of the city of Worcester, Massachusetts, and surrounding communities.
The application deadline for the Albert W. Rice Charitable Foundation is July1. Applicants will generally be notified of grant decisions by November 30.
Grant requests for general operating support or program support are encouraged. Grant requests for general operating support from organizations with annual budgets of $5 million or less are encouraged. For larger organizations, general operating support will be considered.
Operating support should be requested only if the work of the entire organization is consistent with the foundation's mission. Small, program-related capital expenses may be included in general operating or program requests. From time to time, the foundation may consider capital requests.
Grant awards will be for a period of one or two years. A typical grant range is $15,000-$25,000; on occasion, the range may expand between $10,000 and $40,000. For many years, the fund’s primary focus has been to support nonprofit organizations serving the needs of the people of the city of Worcester, and nearby towns, in Massachusetts.
