Alberta Crime Prevention Grant is sponsored by Government of Alberta. Supports programs for up to 2 years focusing on direct delivery of crime prevention services or supports for youth aged 12 to 24 at high risk of becoming involved in offending behaviors.

Alberta Crime Prevention grant | Alberta. ca The Alberta Crime Prevention grant is funded from the proceeds of property forfeited under Alberta’s Civil Forfeiture Act . Civil forfeiture makes Alberta communities safer by taking away property linked to crime, such as cash, vehicles and real estate.

Importantly, civil forfeitures support initiatives that seek to prevent crime through community based programming, including crime-reduction programs for at-risk communities. The Alberta Crime Prevention grant will support programs for up to 2 years that focus on the direct delivery of crime prevention services or supports for youth ages 12 to 24 who are at high risk of becoming involved, or have been involved, in offending behaviours.

These behaviours include social disorder, gang and/or criminal activity in Alberta communities with the highest need for services and the lowest capacity to respond to that need. View current and past recipients of the Alberta Crime Prevention grant . Grants provide funding up to $150,000 per year for 2 years (2025-26 and 2026-27).

Funding is limited. Not all applications will be funded, and others may be recommended for a lesser amount.

Applicants must be located in Alberta and one of the following: a registered not-for-profit organization or registered charity in good standing a First Nation or Metis Settlement a municipality or community-focused police program or service a community group with a designated fiscal agent publicly funded institutions The grants, up to $150,000 per year* (2025-26 and 2026-27), are available for Alberta-based programs or projects that: focus on the direct delivery of crime prevention services or supports for those 12 to 24 years of age incorporate promising practices around prevention, intervention and diversion build protective factors that foster youth development in community, creativity, education and training, health and mental health, life skills and personal empowerment, relationships, or the workplace address common known risk factors, primarily through referrals, including: addictions and mental health domestic and family violence financial or economic disadvantage learning or cognitive disabilities or disorders physical, emotional, mental, sexual abuse and others Preference may be given to (in no particular order): programs that have been evaluated and can demonstrate a high social return on investment applicants looking to expand, scale up, or replicate their program(s) in a high need or low capacity area of the province programs that currently exist and that, without further funding, would cease to exist programs that are filling, or will fill, a gap in a high-risk community programs that can be delivered within one to 3 months of receiving funding Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.

Supporting documents required when applying Certificate of Incorporation from an Alberta corporate registry, if applicable, or proof of registered charity status from Canada Revenue Agency, if applicable Three (3) letters documenting support or partnership. At least one letter should come from a supporter in the criminal justice system.

Examples of acceptable partnership or support letters include (other letters may be considered): victim-serving organization other criminal justice agencies community groups or other not-for-profit agencies as appropriate Ministry of Family and Community Support Services municipal, regional and Indigenous leadership elected community official familiar with your initiative Note: Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
