Micro Voucher Program - Alberta Innovates The Micro Voucher Program provides up to $10,000 to help Alberta tech companies design and/or develop innovative technological solutions. Program Status refers to the state of work going on within this particular program. If the Program is 'Active', it is either accepting new applications or research is currently underway.

If the Program is 'Inactive', the Program is neither accepting new applications nor is any research being conducted. Intake Status refers to the state of the Program's call for new applications. If the Intake is displaying 'Open', the Program is accepting new applications.

If the Intake is displaying 'Closed', the Program is not accepting new applications. Entrepreneurial Investments The Micro Voucher Program provides up to $10,000 to help Alberta tech companies design and/or develop innovative technological solutions.

Micro Voucher Program - Program Guide Small to Medium Enterprise The Micro Voucher Program helps Alberta tech companies to design and/or develop innovative technology solutions by providing up to $10,000 in non-dilutive funding. Qualified activity includes: Design, engineering, and prototype development. Product testing and refinement.

Patent development; (excluding patent maintenance fees). Advanced market assessment or segmentation analysis. Advanced business and/or marketing strategies.

Other technology development activities that will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Examples of eligible activities can be found below under Resources. You have fewer than 500 full-time employees and less than $50,000,000 in annual gross revenue.

You can pay a minimum 25 per cent cash contribution of the total eligible project costs. You have a novel technology with an opportunity for intellectual property. Your digital technology could scaleup in one to two years, if successful.

Your functional requirements and features are defined, and you can prove that the concept is technically feasible. You have or are working towards establishing a management team and foundational business agreements. You can identify target customer, customer segments and possible markets.

You have completed an initial high-level competitive position analysis and understands any regulatory hurdles to entering the market. You can complete the proposed project within six months. Be a for-profit Corporation, General Partnership, Limited Partnership or Limited Liability Partnership and registered in Alberta.

Companies must be Alberta-based with an Alberta footprint, which includes a significant physical and corporate operations in Alberta; appropriate Alberta ownership; and discernible intent that operational benefits will flow primarily within the Province of Alberta. Eligible Project Expenses Schedule C in the Investment Agreement Template outlines the eligible expenses for projects in the Micro Voucher Program. Please note: Alberta Innovates is a Provincial (eg. ‘Crown’) corporation funded by the Government of Alberta.

Our mandate is to deliver economic, health and social benefits for Alberta and Albertans. We are also subject to Government of Alberta directives restricting purchases from US based vendors. Such purchases are not generally allowed except in exceptional circumstances.

Accordingly, if you are using our grant funds to pay for goods or services, we require you to work with domestic (Canadian) suppliers only, or suppliers from a jurisdiction Canada has a free trade agreement with that is being honoured. If no such vendor is available, please advise us immediately.

In any case, our grant funds must not be used to pay a US based vendor without our prior written consent, which consent can be withheld for any reason.
