Alfred Catalanotto Memorial Fellowship is sponsored by The Italian Language Foundation (ILF). This fellowship supports students attending colleges/universities in the USA studying business as a major concentration and who are enrolled in an Italian language class(es).

Train and support teachers of Italian, especially AP Italian ILF Teacher Members are offered free professional development workshops and webinars and eligible for the Teacher Recognition Awards. Promote Italian Language study in the United States & the world Supports the study of Italian language and culture at the highest level in schools and universities throughout the U.S. and across the world.

The College Board has launched its new AP ITALIAN PROGRAM, to begin during the upcoming fall semester, 2026-2027. The revised AP Italian course is described by the College Board as follows: Course frameworks for 6 AP world language and culture courses will align across skills and learning objectives. A course project will require students to use source materials in the target language to prepare for authentic speaking tasks on exam day.

Teachers of Italian are currently in training sessions to prepare them to conduct the new AP Italian course. The course project will be drawn from the theme of Unit 3: Art and Creativity and will focus on music as a lens for exploring cultural products, practices, and perspectives across the target language world. A Course Project Packet will be released annually in January of the exam administration year.

Students will use source materials in the target language to prepare for authentic speaking tasks on exam day. Prior to the exam, students will submit a Personalized Project Reference (PPR)—an outline of their presentation—by April 30 through the AP Digital Portfolio. On exam day, students will present their project by responding to speaking free-response questions in Bluebook.

They’ll be given a printed version of their PPR to reference. A project manual will be included in the appendix of the course and exam descriptions (CEDs) to help teachers understand the required project components and facilitate students’ preparation for and completion of the course project. The student of AP Italian submits a summary of her/his AP Italian project at the same time that the AP Italian score is submitted to The Italian Language Foundation. The exact date will be announced when the College Board announces its date for score reporting. The student of AP Italian describes in paragraph form (250 words or less) the impact of the newly revised AP Italian format on the individual learning experience.

Student must submit proof of the AP Italian Exam score to The Italian Language Foundation as soon it becomes available. Send a photo of your actual AP Italian Score Report to the ILF, as well. Proof of ILF Student and Teacher Membership should also be included in the one email message that you will send to the Italian Language Foundation.
