By supporting local nonprofits, we provide girls living in poverty with access to academic enrichment, mental health care, mentorship, leadership development, and life skills training—so they can thrive today and lead tomorrow.

Thanks to AWF-funded programming at Wellspring Living, she went from quiet observer to “STEAM Assistant,” proudly mentoring others and mastering new skills. Girls experiencing poverty will have access job readiness programs, financial literacy, supplemental educational opportunities including STEM activities, childcare scholarships for teen moms, mentoring, and physical and mental health care services to include coping and social skill development.

AWF supports Agape’s year-round academic and enrichment programs that serve girls in northwest Atlanta with tutoring, mentoring, and leadership development. The program also addresses social-emotional wellness and prepares high schoolers for college and careers through its Navigate program.

Girls receive up to 18 years of continuous support, building resilience and breaking cycles of generational poverty. AWF funding supports Cool Girls’ after-school programs for girls in grades 2–8 that focus on academic achievement, mental wellness, and self-confidence. Girls benefit from mentoring, enrichment, and safe spaces that promote leadership and life skills.

The program reduces the risk of teen pregnancy and fosters pathways out of poverty. Girls Inc. of Greater Atlanta AWF funding supports Girls Inc.’s trauma-informed Mind and Body Initiative, which focuses on mental health, emotional regulation, and resilience. Girls receive counseling, nutritious meals, and enrichment that address the effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).

The program empowers girls to thrive emotionally, academically, and physically. AWF supports Girls on the Run’s evidence-based, physical activity and SEL curriculum for girls in grades 3–8. Through a 12-week program that includes running, goal setting, and a 5K celebration, girls build confidence, emotional regulation, and healthy habits.

Participants also engage in civic projects that foster leadership. Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta AWF supports the Girl Scout Leadership Experience for girls with financial need, offering programming in leadership, STEM, outdoor education, and entrepreneurship. The curriculum builds social-emotional skills and encourages community engagement.

Girls gain confidence, supportive relationships, and a sense of purpose. AWF funding enables the Global Village Project to provide a rigorous, trauma-informed education for refugee girls in DeKalb County. The program offers accelerated academics, counseling, and creative enrichment to prepare students for high school and beyond.

Girls develop confidence, stability, and leadership skills in a culturally affirming environment. AWF supports Creciendo Juntas, a culturally responsive mentorship and leadership program for Latina girls. Older teens mentor younger peers to build confidence, mental wellness, and civic engagement.

Programming integrates the arts, academics, and life skills, helping girls grow into empowered leaders. AWF funding supports culturally and linguistically appropriate mental health counseling, family support, and leadership development for Latina girls. Services strengthen girls’ self-esteem, communication skills, and emotional well-being through a trauma-informed, family-centered model.

Girls also gain access to psychiatric care and academic resources. AWF supports VOX ATL’s teen-driven programs that build leadership, self-expression, and mental wellness through media, journalism, and poetry. Girls explore identity, build confidence, and connect with peers in a safe, inclusive environment.

Paid internships and training also promote financial literacy and career readiness. AWF funds Wellspring’s Girls Residential Program, providing comprehensive, trauma-informed care to survivors of sex trafficking. Girls receive education, therapy, mentorship, and life skills training in a secure setting.

Programming helps participants heal, stabilize, and prepare for long-term independence.
