ALSDE Alabama Arts Education Initiative (AAEI) Grants is sponsored by Alabama State Department of Education. The Alabama State Department of Education offers grants to public schools and community organizations to strengthen the development and implementation of a comprehensive arts education program in schools.

Grants and Resources — Alabama Arts Alliance (Alabama Arts Education Initiative) The Alabama State Department of Education offers $20,000 – $25,000 grants to public schools and community organizations to strengthen the development and implementation of a comprehensive arts education program in the schools. Grants may provide additional support to schools having a current plan designed to provide quality arts instruction.

Schools must have the full support of staff, including teachers, administrators, specialists, and assistants, and be willing to participate in intensive arts professional development. Programs must show a concerted effort to include the participation of every student, staff member, and administrator. Community organizations must show evidence of planning in partnership with school personnel, designing to meet the needs of the school(s).

RFP’s are usually available in the fall of each school year. Letter of Intent (LOI) is due by October 15, 2025 Application is due by October 29, 2025 Funding, if awarded, becomes available in the late spring. AAEI Application Information The Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) offers grants for Alabama Symphonies to receive funds in support of arts education.

Any organized symphony orchestra in Alabama is eligible for these funds through a competitive grant process to provide live orchestral experiences and/or educational programing in underserved areas of the state. These live orchestral experiences must also include educational components and must be aligned with the Alabama Course of Study: Arts Education (2017) or (2024).

501(c)3 nonprofit organizations, schools, and school systems may apply for a grant up to $5,000. The application deadline is June 15 and December 15. Program Requirements and Guidelines A grant may be submitted from nonprofit organizations with a 501(c)3 designation, schools, or school systems.

Grants will not be considered for individuals. One grant request per organization up to $5,000 will be considered per deadline. Only one grant per organization will be awarded per calendar year.

If an organization is awarded a grant, they must sit out the next two (2) tag grant deadlines before they are eligible to submit another application. They may apply again on the 3rd deadline after the deadline in which they were awarded a grant. Final reports for a previously funded project are required for an organization to be considered eligible when applying for a new project grant.

Projects with an arts education focus, statewide impact and/or are creative and innovative will receive priority funding. Art Tag Grant Application The application must be completed in its entirety. Additional pages will not be accepted.

To emphasize the importance of the arts for Alabama students, the Alabama Course of Study: Arts Education provides rigorous standards for all students in Grades K-12.
