(Amazon/Contributed Photo) HERMISTON — Nonprofits and other organizations in Eastern Oregon have an opportunity to apply for grants up to $10,000 from the Amazon Eastern Oregon Community Fund. Amazon announced it has committed $175,000 to the fund to support local initiatives in Eastern Oregon. The fund is open to individuals, community groups, schools, nonprofits and other organizations.
This is the sixth community fund Amazon is starting to support local projects in Morrow and Umatilla counties. Nonprofit applicants can apply for grants up to $10,000, while individuals and community groups can apply for up to $5,000.
Project themes include: Sustainability and the environment Science technology engineering and math Future workforce development Economic development and leadership Inclusion, diversity and equity Applicants also can apply for funding to introduce one of six established community programs that have been successful in other communities across the world.
To help individuals and organizations with the application process, Amazon is holding a free virtual information session at 10 a. m. on Jan.
22. Register here . Applications for the Eastern Oregon Community Fund will be accepted until Feb.
16, and will be managed and administered by the nonprofit organization ChangeX. ChangeX will review applications and will assess and score them against funding criteria and the positive impact to the community, especially underserved populations. All successful applicants will complete a 30-day challenge to kick-start their idea and take their first steps towards making their project a reality.
