American Indian Language Revitalization - State Grant | Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Language and Culture Education Licenses American Indian Language Revitalization - State Grant American Indian Language Revitalization - State Grant 2025-2027 American Indian Language Revitalization - State Grant The 2025–27 State Biennial Budget, signed in July 2025, allocates funding to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) in the amount of $222,800 per fiscal year (2025–2026 and 2026–2027) for the American Indian Language Revitalization – State Grants.
Please note that the grant application is no longer available as a PDF. All applications must now be completed and submitted through Qualtrics; PDF submissions will not be accepted. The deadline to apply for the 2026–2027 grant is Friday, May 1, 2026 .
We encourage you to begin developing your application for your language program. Along with a copy of the scoring rubric that reviewers will use to evaluate proposals, we will also provide an opportunity to connect with the grant directors to answer any questions you may have about your current or proposed language program.
These grants are awarded annually on a competitive basis to eligible school districts, CESAs, and Head Start agencies, in partnership with a tribal education authority. Grant funds may be used to support language activities that provide instruction in one or more American Indian languages as part of the curriculum or co-curricular offerings.
Allowable activities include, but are not limited to, curriculum development, creation of assessment tools, professional development, language-focused parent and community engagement, instructional delivery, and program evaluation.
