AmeriCorps National Competitive & State Formula Grants | Governor's Office of Youth, Faith and Family Governor's Office of Youth, Faith and Family AmeriCorps National Competitive & State Formula Grants AmeriCorps is a federally funded network of national service programs working to strengthen communities in each state and U.S. territory. The Governor's Office of Youth, Faith and Family (GOYFF) administers approximately $9.
4 million in federal funds for AmeriCorps State and National programming each year through two separate processes. GOYFF has allocated $4. 1 million in federal Formula Grant Funding, which was awarded through a formal process called a Request for Grant Application (RFGA) decided at the state level.
Additionally, the GOYFF administers approximately $5. 4 million in National Competitive Grant Funding, which is determined at the federal level by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS).
In Arizona, programs that receive AmeriCorps funding address critical community needs such as preventing opioid misuse, reducing the trauma of domestic violence, increasing access to post-secondary and vocational education opportunities, decreasing homelessness, sustaining national trails and parks, assisting seniors to stay independent, and providing mentoring to Arizona youth in the areas of literacy, continuing education, and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Programs.
Nearly 1,200 individuals will become AmeriCorps members in Arizona this year. Members receive a living stipend and an education award for their term of service.
