Animal and Veterinary Innovation Centers (AVICs) is sponsored by FDA Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM). This program provides grant funding for the establishment of Animal and Veterinary Innovation Centers (AVICs). AVICs are long-term partnerships intended to address critical animal, human, or environmental health needs in priority areas for CVM, including human food safety for minor species drugs, aquaculture, minor ruminant species, and antimicrobial use and stewardship.

The Pharmacology Research Grants from the American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF) and the Veterinary Pharmacology Research Foundation (VPRF) fund research focused on veterinary pharmacology and pharmacokinetics. Two grants are available: a veterinary pharmacology grant for up to $30,000 and a veterinary pharmacokinetic grant for up to $15,000. Funded research areas include evaluating safety and effectiveness of novel or existing drug therapies for veterinary species, developing and validating pharmacokinetic models, and ensuring the safety of food products from treated livestock. These areas have historically been underfunded by traditional granting agencies. Any clinician or scientist with an interest in veterinary pharmacology is eligible to serve as Principal Investigator. Collaboration with members of the American Academy of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics is strongly encouraged. Applications for 2025 are now closed; check back for 2026 opportunities.
