Thanks to years of ASAP grants, Kindness Ranch is providing dogs with shelters, medical care, and enrichment that they deserve. Read About Our Site Visits NAVS helps waystation chimps find safe new homes After the 2019 closure of Wildlife Waystation, 400+ animals—over 40 chimpanzees included—needed new homes.

NAVS ASAP supported NAPSA’s “Chimpanzees in Need” and issued $95K+ in grants to sanctuaries now caring for these former research chimps. This funding helped purchase a vital blood pressure monitor for aging chimpanzees – including Binky, Loulis, SueEllen, and Tatu – who once endured life in research labs. Heart health is a major concern for chimpanzees in captivity, especially as they grow older. This specialized equipment will ensure that Fauna’s residents receive the highest level of care and comfort as they age.

Since 2002, Fauna Sanctuary has provided lifetime care to chimpanzees, offering environments that support their physical, emotional, and social well-being – and proving that sanctuaries truly are forever homes. In summer 2025, an ASAP grant was issued to Primates Incorporated (Westfield, WI) to construct their largest outdoor enclosure to date for two residents, Batman and Timon, who are both from out-of-state laboratories.

The enclosure will be constructed around existing trees and will serve as a prototype for more enriching enclosures for their residents. Esther Neonatal Kitten Alliance Esther Neonatal Kitten Alliance When Hurricane Helene hit North Carolina, Esther Neonatal Kitten Alliance, a rescue dedicated to newborn and medically challenged kittens, not only lost power but lost all their medical supplies and equipment in the flooding.

Thanks to your support of NAVS ASAP, we were able to issue them a generous grant to assist them and their kittens at a critical time. The grant helped them restock much needed medical supplies and medications and covered medical care for kittens found during and in the aftermath of the storm, such as Cosmo.

Brother Wolf Animal Rescue Brother Wolf Animal Rescue When Hurricane Helene hit North Carolina in late September 2024, Brother Wolf Animal Rescue lost their shelter in the floodwaters, along with all their physical assets. Thanks to your support of NAVS ASAP, we issued them a generous grant for recovery assistance, helping them to purchase medical and care supplies as they worked to rebuild and restock.

They never wavered in their plan to rebuild and continue their lifesaving work in the region. In the direct aftermath of the storm, they served pets whose families could not afford veterinary care and helped over 1,000 animals through those efforts. By year end, they were able to move into their temporary facility and start receiving new animals.

Our grant funding will also help them outfit their medical team with supplies to help animals in this facility. Kindness Ranch Animal Sanctuary Kindness Ranch Animal Sanctuary Kindness Ranch Animal Sanctuary, in Wyoming, works to provide a sanctuary and place of rehabilitation for animals who have been used in laboratory research while fostering compassion for all animals.

Their goal is to give former research animals a future by offering an alternative to euthanasia in labs. When they reached out to NAVS ASAP to request emergency assistance, we were able to issue a grant to help them renovate and enhance the dog yurts on their property to help minimize stress and maximize safety for all residents.

Furthermore, in the course of their life-saving work, the use of safe transport crates to get dogs out of research facilities and to their new home is a top priority. Their current crates had been in use for multiple rescues and needed urgent replacement. Thanks to your support, NAVS ASAP was also able to fund the full cost for thirty new crates for their transport van.

Equine Rescue & Adoption Foundation Equine Rescue & Adoption Foundation In January 2024, a tornado hit Equine Rescue & Adoption Foundation (ERAF), a rescue located in Florida that is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption of abandoned, abused, neglected, slaughter-bound, and surrendered horses, donkeys, and mules.

They came to us in need of emergency assistance as the tornado caused unprecedented flooding and damage to their property. Thanks to your continued support of NAVS ASAP, we were able to issue ERAF a generous grant to assist them in their recovery efforts and keep their residents safe and secure.

Our friends at Save the Chimps, located in Florida, had a busy year as they continued their lifesaving work rescuing and providing sanctuary for chimpanzees who have been used in biomedical research, the entertainment industry, or the pet trade.

Your support made it possible to assist Save the Chimps when they required an emergency electrical system update in one of their chimp houses and when they needed new technology for increased island monitoring and an enhanced enrichment schedule for the integration of the Ohio Four (Anna, Lucy, Cash and April) into their new island family.

Furthermore, when Hurricane Milton hit Save the Chimps, we were able to issue a generous grant to assist them with their recovery efforts and the repairs required to keep their residents safe, healthy, and happy.

When Beagle Freedom Project (BFP) announced they had shut down an animal testing laboratory in Nowata, Oklahoma, rescued over two hundred dogs and cats used at that facility, and purchased the property to turn it into an animal sanctuary, NAVS ASAP was there to help.

Thanks to your support, we issued a generous grant to BFP to provide the rescued animals with essential vaccines, spay/neuter procedures, and immediate medical assistance—vital steps in their journey towards healing and finding forever homes.

Now called Freedom Fields, this rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption center established by BFP will be a beacon of hope for animals subjected to laboratory research on the very grounds that once represented their captivity. NAVS ASAP further assisted BFP with the initial medical care for Billie, a goat, and eight rabbits from research when they reached their new home at Freedom Fields.

This monumental victory underscores the powerful impact of collaboration between organizations like NAVS and BFP, united in the mission to end animal experimentation. Primarily Primates, located in San Antonio, TX, was one of the sanctuaries to take in chimpanzees from the Wildlife Waystation in California when it abruptly closed in 2019, offering them a permanent home.

The sanctuary houses, protects, and rehabilitates various primate species, many coming from the pet trade and biomedical research facilities. We issued a generous grant to help them with the general, ongoing care of the chimpanzees they took in from the Wildlife Waystation. We are happy to report that the chimpanzees continue to flourish in their new home thanks to your generous support.
