El Rio Community Health Center $25,000 for the development of a telehealth strategy for youth to access clinical care through telemedicine. $16,000 to expand the network of all options pregnancy counselors in Minnesota. Santiago and Sacatepequez regions, Guatemala $20,000 for a family planning choices app to aid local community health workers in disseminating information to young women in Guatemala.

Guatemala City, Guatemala $10,000 to establish a leadership program for youth in Guatemala City, in which they will learn how to teach their peers about sexual and reproductive health and refer them to IG for services. NARAL Pro-Choice Texas Foundation $20,000 for the Texas Abortion Education Project (TAEP), which offers information about abortion care, access, and insurance coverage to Texans, as well as combats misinformation.

$20,000 to develop the clinic finder function on its Bedsider digital platform. Reproductive Health Access Project $25,000 to develop three Zines depicting the reproductive health experiences of people from different backgrounds, races, and gender identities. $20,000 for Healthy Love Youth Advocates Project, which mobilizes women leaders to advance reproductive justice in their communities.

Val Verde Regional Medical Center $25,000 to expand sexual and reproductive health education for young women in the region. $35,000 to expand an integrated community- and clinic-based delivery of family planning and health services to five new communities in the Bassar District of Togo.

Planned Parenthood of Montana $20,000 for Foundations: Core Skills Training for Sex Education for trainers, who will then offer workshops for Montana teachers. Kentucky Health Justice Network $35,000 to support All Access EKY, which aims to create sustainable access to birth control in “contraceptive deserts. ” Planned Parenthood Great Plains $18,000 for sexual and reproductive health education for youth in the Muscogee (Creek) Nation.

The Regents University of California Los Angeles Fielding School of Public Health $25,000 for Youth Access to Clinic Services After Hours (YACSAH) to offer clinical services and education to young people in Western Kenya. Southeastern Michigan Health Association $25,000 for iDecide, a community outreach project directed at educating and providing access to sexual and reproductive health services to youth in Detroit.

$25,000 for videos to increase awareness of the organization’s work in providing abortion care. Choices. Memphis Center for Reproductive Health $18,060 for the development and online dissemination of a series of animated videos that provide comprehensive reproductive and sexual health information to teens, as a way to circumvent conservative local policies that prevent this type of education in public schools.

The videos also encourage viewers to become advocates for policy change in their communities. Daughters of the Diaspora $10,000 to support Daughters of the Diaspora, which aims to teach self-esteem and reproductive health to adolescent women throughout the African Diaspora, in continuing its programming in Philadelphia, launching programs in New York City, and beginning to expand programming into Kingston, Jamaica; and Apam, Ghana.

$24,000 for a strategic reproductive health education campaign, targeted to adolescents and nulliparous women in 28 rural communities in Haiti, to promote family planning services and dispel myths about using contraception before having a child.

$25,000 to build and test the Safe Abortion mobile app for frontline health workers in East African countries, to enable them to access and share unbiased information, counsel young women about safe abortion options, provide referrals to services, and reduce abortion stigma.

Physicians for Reproductive Health Inc. f/b/o Global Doctors for Choice $30,000 to distill its in-person physician advocacy training into a series of shorter online training sessions, which will reach providers who would be unable to attend in-person trainings due to geographic distance, costs involved, or time constraints.

$20,000 for the Vacation Body School, a three-day, faith-based, comprehensive sexual and reproductive health education and mobilization training for youth in grades 6-12. Structurally based on the church youth programming tradition of Vacation Bible School, the program aims to broaden access to information in response to state laws prohibiting comprehensive sex education in public schools.

University of South Carolina Educational Foundation $25,000 to conduct workshops that engage youth in foster care, who are at significantly higher risk for unintended pregnancy than the general population, in honest, positive discussions about sex and healthy relationships with the goal of increasing reproductive health literacy and improving sexual outcomes.

College of Education, Health, and Human Services $30,000 for East Tennessee Partners in Prevention, which will provide comprehensive reproductive health education directly to East Tennessee youth, train the staff of local youth-serving organizations, disseminate information about accessing free IUDs and implants at A Step Ahead Foundation, and train a public health graduate student to become a health educator and advocate for comprehensive sexual and reproductive health in East Tennessee.

$9,500 towards the development of BLUE Youth Health, a statewide training and education support network to improve sex education and promote a culture of healthy and safe sexuality among youth and families. The project will involve assembling a resource library, training educators, and offering in-classroom sex education teaching and lesson plans for K-12 educators.

$20,000 to train community leaders to integrate family planning information, as an aspect of financial planning and budgeting, into women’s savings group programs in ten communities in Bénin. Hampshire College Trustees f/b/o Civil Liberties and Public Policy $5,000 to support continued implementation of the Reproductive Rights Activist Service Corps during its second year of national expansion.

$17,500 to support an independent evaluation of the Teen Talk High School Refresher, a five-hour (one hour per day for five days) booster course for 11th and 12th grade students that aims to equip older teens with the knowledge and skills necessary to make informed sexual health decisions as they transition into adulthood.

$20,000 to translate into Spanish, adapt, and field test the materials in Health Actions for Women, Hesperian’s community advocacy guide for young women in Latin America and the United States, including community health workers and other organizers who work with Latina communities.

Howard Brown Health Center $25,000 to support the development of sex-positive and gender-affirming marketing materials on comprehensive SRH practices—including birth control options, pregnancy options, abortion, chest/breast exams and paps, emergency contraception, and consent and healthy relationships—targeted to young women and LGBTQ individuals ages 12–24.

Justice Resource Institute $21,200 in support of a collaboration between My Life My Choice and Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts to ensure that commercially sexually exploited youth receive sensitive and effective sex education and care.

f/b/o Lady Parts Justice League $20,000 to support the development of videos as part of the Reproductive Health Myth Busters video series, which debunks myths on such topics as IUDs, abortion health risks, and abortion accessibility, in response to the spreading of misinformation about reproductive health services.

Physicians for Reproductive Choice and Health $20,000 to support the addition of two new modules—“Abortion and Adolescents” and “Commercial Sexual Exploitation”—to the organization’s training curriculum materials for pediatric practitioners, including adolescent specialists.

Sauti Yetu Center for African Women and Families $15,000 for the development of a culturally sensitive and relevant SRH curriculum for the girls served by Sauti Yetu’s Girls Empowerment and Leadership Initiative, which works with African immigrant high school students ages 13–21, many of whom are Muslim.

$7,550 to support the pilot of a family planning education and supply program aimed at adolescent girls, based on the organization’s successful model of community engagement with adult women. $25,000 to support the integration of family planning into the organization’s healthcare services for indigenous Maya women in Guatemala.

The project will combat misconceptions about long acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs) and other contraceptive methods as well as providing access to services. Ecumenical Coalition for Women and Families $25,000 in support of Faith in Women, an organizing and advocacy project that works with clergy and other faith leaders in Mississippi to increase their engagement and knowledge of reproductive health issues.

$25,000 to add youth-oriented sexual and reproductive health information to the Women’s Rights Application (WRAPP), a mobile app developed by two local organizations, Zamrize and Asikana Network, in Zambia’s Southern Province; and to share comprehensive sexual and reproductive health and rights information via the interactive radio program of Contact Trust Youth Association, a local youth-led organization.

Maternal and Family Health Services $18,000 to augment the organization’s teen information and education sources by developing and advertising a two-way text information service, to be rolled out statewide. $25,000 to train the staff of youth-serving organizations on providing comprehensive, trauma-informed sexual and reproductive health education and services to victims of commercial sexual exploitation.

The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy $35,000 for national dissemination—through conferences, webinars, and publications—of “Supporting Latino Parents in California to Prevent Teen Pregnancy,” a project whose pilot was funded by ALB in 2013.

Reproductive Health Access Project $25,000 to translate the organization’s free, evidence-based educational materials for reproductive health care providers into Hindi, Korean, and Vietnamese. The materials, which support informed decision-making and patient-centered reproductive care, are also available in English and Spanish.

$18,113 to expand and improve GirlswithNerve, a decision-support website for young women with epilepsy, a disorder that involves complex medical and social interactions with sexual and reproductive choices. This project, devoted to teens, follows upon research and development of a decision-support tool for adult women with epilepsy.

Native American Community Board $20,000 to continue to support full access to reproductive choice services for Native American women and girls served by the Indian Health Service on reservations, by training 150 native women as advocates to apply grassroots pressure for both policy change and appropriate service. Planned Parenthood of the St.

Louis Region and Southwest Missouri $20,000 for the Teen Advocates for Sexual Health (TASH) Advocacy Project, an action campaign by teens to organize for increased or improved sex education and services in three high schools in the region during 2014 and 2015. Venture Strategies for Health and Development $25,000 to educate women in Mozambique about using misoprostol to safely terminate an early pregnancy.

WV FREE (WV Focus: Reproductive Education and Equality) $35,000 to conduct “all-options” training with 150 health and social service providers throughout West Virginia to ensure that health and social service personnel working with teen and adult women support them with full information in a non-judgmental fashion.

Future Net d/b/a EyesOpenIowa $25,000 to ensure adolescent sexual health in Iowa by expanding educational opportunities and coverage in a large state. This project is expected to have an impact on a large number of teens, many of whom are isolated in rural communities.

Massachusetts Alliance on Teen Pregnancy $20,000 to support community organizing that will lead to implementation of sex education in the Lawrence, Massachusetts, schools. NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts $20,000 to support the Certified Truth Program that will alert Massachusetts organizations and health facilities that their referral data bases contain CPCs.

A pilot effort has shown that women and clinicians are responsive to accurate information on the topic of unplanned pregnancies. Native American Community Board $20,000 to support full access to reproductive choice services for Native American women and girls served by the Indian Health Service on reservations.

The NACB will work toward fair implementation using three strategies: training 150 women in three states as activists; pressing the IHS for rapid action; and conducting a communications campaign so that women know their rights and begin to demand them from individual IHS clinics and pharmacies.

Sadie Nash Leadership Project $20,000 to implement efforts to bring about a deeper engagement with reproductive justice and sexual health in its programs. SNLP will expand its partnerships at two New York high schools by presenting free classes for pregnant and parenting teens. The programs will foster increased agency around reproductive choices and making connections between motherhood and leadership.

Teen Connection of Takoma, Inc. d/b/a Teen and Young Adult Health Connection (TAYA) $10,000 to increase access to, and use of, Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptives (LARCs) among teen and young adult women who will not be covered by the Affordable Care Act. $16,000 so support expanded girls’ reproductive education in Kibale, Uganda.

The project will design and test a school-based reproductive education program for adolescent girls in rural Uganda that is expected to be sustainable and scalable. The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy $25,000 for the Supporting Latino Parents in California to Prevent Teen Pregnancy program that improves family communication about sex and pregnancy in Latino communities in California.

The project uses promontores to deliver the evidence-based program Families Talking Together. $10,000 to support reproductive justice advocacy focused on the Midwest and Southwest, where rules are restrictive and services are lacking. The program will support a hotline and referral service to cover Kansas and Oklahoma.

Children’s Nutrition Program of Haiti $20,000 to provide sex education in Leogane, Haiti, for in-school groups and “youth groups” for those out of school or from different districts. In addition, referrals to two clinics will be boosted by a youth-produced radio spot.

Community Hospital Health Services Foundation d/b/a Community Health Foundation $15,000 in support of a youth empowerment approach to the problem of teen pregnancy in which a group of teens will choose and implement the specific outreach techniques that they believe will motivate behavior change among their peer group.

Ibis Reproductive Health, Inc. $20,000 to improve sexual and reproductive health education for school-based, HIV-positive young women in Johannesburg, South Africa. NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia Foundation $30,000 to support the Sex Education Awareness Now Petersburg project in which a coalition of community groups will work to bring comprehensive sex education to students in the Petersburg, Virginia public schools.

Planned Parenthood of Northern New England $20,000 in support of the Reproductive Health Telemedicine Initiative, which seeks to protect and expand access to reproductive and sexual health care and education in rural communities in Northern New England. The Hyde Square Task Force $10,000 in support of the youth-led campaign for sex education and condom availability in the Boston public schools.

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill $10,000 in support of a project to increase and understand adolescents’ use of a sexual health text message service.

Children’s Home Society of West Virginia $10,000, to support the Teen Outreach & Pregnancy Prevention Program by replicating faithfully the Family Life and Sexuality Education portion of the Carrera youth development curriculum developed by the Children’s Aid Society of NY Family Planning Council of Iowa $25,000, in extend the My Life My Choices My Control Program’s outreach to survivors of domestic violence and/or reproductive coercion through an expanded partnership with the state’s Coalition Against Domestic Violence $25,000, in support of the Entre Amiga’s Promotoras Program which will train women to be community resources for accurate information about reproductive health in their community $20,000, to update and distribute the 8th edition of the Educator’s Guide to Sexuality Education to a national audience.

The Initiative for Jewish Women $25,000 to develop the There’s Only 1U iPhone app that is a learning tool and information source about reproductive health for use by young people.

Community Hospital Health Services Foundation $10,000 to increase the number of comprehensive human sexuality education sessions and provide more youth with information to help them develop healthy sexual attitudes and behaviors $30,000 to support methodological field testing and revisions of Community Action for Women’s Health and Empowerment to assist women and community health workers put activities into practice that pay special attention to the needs of adolescent and young women regarding family planning and pregnancy termination, safe motherhood, maternal health, sexuality education and rights and prevention of sexual and gender-based violence.

Mabel Wadsworth Women’s Health Center $23,350 to reverse the eight-year upward trend unintended pregnancies, with a special focus on education and outreach to women under the age of 25, by providing medically accurate, comprehensive sex education.
