Types of funding we offer – ESRC – UKRI Types of funding we offer - ESRC We provide a range of funding, covering smaller awards to support early career researchers and larger research awards enabling both individuals and larger teams to access funding through our applicant-led research grants and centres competitions. We also provide funding for postgraduate training and fellowships.
Our funding also supports UK data and infrastructure and methodological developments. Applicant-led research funding We are refreshing our applicant-led schemes to create a coordinated portfolio of opportunities that support breakthrough ideas and new areas of research.
We have launched two pilots to fill gaps in our existing offer: Connect : Funding to support researchers to connect with each other to scope, seed and grow emerging research fields and new areas of inquiry. React : Responsive funding to generate time-critical research to support UK policymakers or frontline practitioners in public services.
Our current responsive mode opportunities remain open to applications, with no submission deadlines. Large research investments We fund research centres, groups, large grants and networks as part of our large research investments. Learn more about funding for ESRC centres and institutes .
