No. The Transfer Achievement Grant combines all federal grants and institutional aid up to the eligible amount, depending on your Student Aid Index from the FAFSA.

Pell Grants, university grants and any institutional scholarships (such as RaiseMe, Earn to Learn, and the Phi Theta Kappa scholarship) are included in the Transfer Achievement Grant amount. If you receive additional scholarships or funding from ASU, your Transfer Achievement Grant may be adjusted down so as not to exceed the maximum eligible amount. When is the deadline to be considered for the Transfer Achievement Grant?

Eligible students must be admitted to ASU no later than the first day of classes for the term they applied for. Students are encouraged to complete their steps to apply and FAFSA by Jan. 15 for fall and Oct.

Financial aid packaging for admitted students typically begins in March for fall admits, and October for spring admits. If you have completed all necessary items to receive a financial aid package from ASU, then you can expect a financial aid package that includes the Transfer Achievement Grant approximately 4–6 weeks after completing your financial aid file.

Monitor your Finances tab on My ASU and your ASU email for notification of any additional documents needed to complete financial aid packaging. Where can I see my residency classification? How do I petition for residency if I’m classified as a nonresident?

When you apply to ASU , you’ll answer a series of residency questions on the application, and ASU will use this information to make an initial residency determination. You can see your residency classification in My ASU in the My Application Status box. If you are classified as Non-Resident and would like to petition for reclassification, contact the Residency Classification office after reviewing the residency requirements.

Can I apply for the Transfer Achievement Grant as a current ASU student? No. The Transfer Achievement Grant is only available to incoming students (students who are not enrolled in ASU classes and admitted for a future term) who meet the eligibility criteria listed above. Current ASU students are ineligible to be considered for the grant.

Current students are encouraged to visit Scholarship Universe to explore and apply for additional scholarships. I was admitted to ASU for spring 2026 or earlier. Is the Transfer Achievement Grant available to me?

The Transfer Achievement Grant is only available to incoming campus or online students. Current ASU students are ineligible to be considered for the grant. The following requirements apply to students admitted spring 2026 or earlier: Must be an Arizona resident for tuition purposes.

Must be a transfer student from an Arizona community college. Must have a minimum 3. 50 cumulative transfer GPA.

Must demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA. Must have submitted an ASU admission application, application fee and transcripts from each school attended by Jan. 15 for fall and Oct.

1 for spring. The grant amount varies each year and is typically awarded in the fall semester. Spring amounts are dependent on the remaining funds from the previous fall.

Please note that regardless if a student starts in fall or spring semester, funding is limited and amounts are not guaranteed under any circumstances. If you were awarded the Transfer Achievement Grant, it would have been included in your initial ASU financial aid package. If the grant was not included in your financial aid package, then you did not receive the grant.

Current ASU students are ineligible to be considered for the grant. For those awarded the Transfer Achievement Award in Spring 2026 or earlier, the award can be renewed for a total of four consecutive semesters (excluding summers) by completing 24 ASU credit hours with a 2. 50 or higher ASU cumulative GPA and submitting a FAFSA by the above deadlines each year that demonstrates continued financial need.

I believe I meet the eligibility requirements, but I have not received the Transfer Achievement Grant. How can I be considered for it? Keep in mind that the financial aid packaging process typically does not start until March for fall admits, or October for spring admits.

Financial aid packaging can take 4–6 weeks on average after completing your financial aid file. If we are past this timeframe, you meet all eligibility requirements, and have not received the grant, contact your transfer admission team member for further assistance. Are there any student populations that are not eligible for the Transfer Achievement Grant?

Corporate partners, students on the All-Arizona Academic Team, active duty military and/or veterans, and veteran dependents (Yellow Ribbon) are not eligible for the Transfer Achievement Grant due to the existing benefits they are eligible for. If I enroll in iCourses or ASU Sync programs, does that affect my eligibility for the Transfer Achievement Grant?

No. You can receive the Transfer Achievement Grant as long as you meet all eligibility and renewal requirements. I need an additional semester past my admit term before I can enroll at ASU. Does that affect my eligibility for the Transfer Achievement Grant?

Domestic transfer students are provided one extra semester past their admit term to enroll, if they need additional time. For example, a transfer student admitted for fall 2026 is able to enroll until spring 2027 without needing to reapply or defer their admission. You will be able to keep your Transfer Achievement Grant as long as you continue to meet all eligibility and renewal requirements.

If you need more than one semester before you’re ready to enroll at ASU, you’ll need to defer your admission , or reapply for admission if you plan to enroll elsewhere before attending ASU. If I defer my admission, am I still eligible for the Transfer Achievement Grant? Yes, as long as you have an approved admission deferment on file.

Keep in mind that deferment requests must be submitted at least two weeks before the start of your admit term. You must also continue to meet all eligibility and renewal requirements for the Transfer Achievement Grant, which include submitting a FAFSA each year.

Students are not allowed to enroll at another postsecondary institution during their deferment period; if you plan to enroll elsewhere before attending ASU, then you must reapply for admission when you’re ready to return to ASU. You may then be reconsidered for the Transfer Achievement Grant upon admission. I am enrolling in an ASU Online program.

Am I eligible? Yes. The Transfer Achievement Grant is available to any Arizona resident for tuition purposes who meets the eligibility criteria, regardless of whether the student enrolls on campus or online.
