AER Update - Current Events - 1 MAY 2026 Effective 1 May 2026 , Army Emergency Relief assistance for Soldiers and eligible family members affected by Super Typhoon Sinlaku in Guam and the surrounding islands of the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas (Rota, Tinian, and Saipan) will shift from Evacuation and Preparedness support to Recovery assistance.
This phase of support is intended to help with minor home repairs, personal property insurance deductibles, basic living expenses, and other essential needs that impact life, health, and safety, including immediate requirements such as food, water, fuel, and temporary lodging.
The following Soldiers are eligible for financial assistance during this phase: • Active-Duty Soldiers (Regular Army) • Guard/Reserve on Title 10 orders The AER recovery response effort is effective 1-30 May 2026. Individuals seeking assistance should create an online account at www. armyemergencyrelief.
org. When completing the application, select “Disaster Assistance” and enter “Typhoon Sinlaku (Guam)” as the event name. If an applicant experiences issues applying for financial assistance, they may contact AER toll free at 1 866 878 6378 or email assistance-helpdesk@aerhq.
org for support.
