Art Study Opportunity for Youth Grants - Southwest Minnesota Arts Council Art Study Opportunity for Youth Grants Provides up to $500 to allow young artists entering grades 5 – 12 to attend an enrichment camp or specialty study. Costs for standard weekly lessons (such as piano or voice lessons) are allowed for students who qualify for the federal free or reduced lunch program.

Dates & Deadlines for FY 2027 (July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027) Request staff draft review at least one week before deadline 1 st of each month, August 2026 – May 2027, or until funds are expended Board Action: 4th Tuesday of the month Results Notification: Within the next few days after the board meeting Earliest Project Start Date: the first day of the following month Estimated Payment Date: 15th of the following month (if contract completed) An application submitted August 10 would be in time for the September 1 deadline.
The SMAC Board would make funding decisions on September 22, the fourth Tuesday. The applicant would be notified within a few days following the board meeting and could start their project October 1. Grant funds would be issued on October 15.
