Assistive Technology Grants (ALS Association) is sponsored by The ALS Association. Supports the development of diverse devices and technologies to make it easier for people with ALS to communicate, move, breathe, and perform daily activities, helping them retain independence.

ALS financial support and benefits • Les Turner ALS Foundation ALS Grant Programs and Equipment Loans The Les Turner ALS Foundation offers a variety of programs to provide financial assistance to people living with ALS and their families. You may apply for each grant annually. In order to apply for a grant, you must receive your care at the Lois Insolia ALS Clinic and speak with a member of our Support Services Team.

Grants are available to people living with ALS who demonstrate financial need. All existing sources for obtaining equipment will be explored before grants are approved. Please work with your ALS Support Services Coordinator to identify community resources or help with insurance navigation.

Walter Boughton Foundation Support Services Grant Program The Boughton Support Services Grant Program offers financial assistance to people with ALS to help cover a portion of the cost of certain equipment and necessary home modifications not covered by insurance.

Dan Nelson Respite Grant Program The Dan Nelson Respite Grant Program is designed to provide grants for short-term respite care, which provides the primary caregiver with time away from their care duties. This promotes well-being for both the caregiver and person with ALS and helps prevent caregiver burnout. Participants in the program also receive a visit from one of the Foundation’s ALS Support Services coordinators.

Sheila McCullough generously and thoughtfully established this fund in 2012 to honor the memory of her husband Dan and his first caregiver, Thea. Assistive Technology Grants The Les Turner ALS Foundation partners with other organizations and provides need-based grant funding for accessible technology to help people living with ALS communicate, control their environment and meet their care needs.

Stuart Rosen ALS Transportation Fund The Stuart Rosen Transportation Grant Program helps provide comfortable and reliable transportation to and from the Lois Insolia ALS Clinic at the Les Turner ALS Center at Northwestern Medicine to treat ALS symptoms. Grants are available if members of your family or community are unable to take you to appointments.

This fund was created by the family and friends of Stuart Rosen, who passed away in 2007 at the age of 69. The Les Turner ALS Foundation offers a range of new and donated equipment, including ramps, wheelchairs and communication devices, to help people living with ALS.

This equipment is available for needs not covered by insurance, for families awaiting insurance approval, or for those who would otherwise be unable to access these essential tools.
