The scholarship is funded by Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (SMMPA). Any local high school senior who has a parent or legal guardian who is an active customer of Austin Utilities may apply. Applicants must submit an essay reflecting on one or more of the following prompts: - What is the benefit of Austin maintaining local control of its utilities?

MMUA Utility Workforce Scholarship MMUA is offering up to five $1,000 scholarships for students enrolled in utility-related programs. Whether you're aiming to be a powerline/lineworker, gas operator, water and wastewater operator, or GIS specialist, MMUA wants to hear from you!
Eligibility: Must live in Minnesota and complete the application (linked below), including two open-ended questions about your passion for the utility field and your knowledge of municipal utilities. To apply, you'll also need two letters of recommendation from a mentor, employer, or teacher, sent directly to sdau@mmua. org .
