Patient Care Grants: Hearing - Northwest Lions Foundation the Northwest Lions Foundation: Restoring Sight, Hope & Hearing Patient Care Grants: Hearing Often, deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals cannot afford the special equipment or medical procedures they dearly need.
In communities throughout Washington and Northern Idaho, the Northwest Lions Foundation comes to the rescue by matching funds raised by local Lions Clubs for hearing- and sight-related costs. Charitable support from the Patient Care Program goes to cover everything from a hearing dog to AUDIENT hearing aids to an ear prosthesis.
In every case, this charitable support furthered the health and independence of an individual with hearing or sight loss. ARPA-H's HEARING program (ARPA-H-SOL-26-154) — Hearing Enhancement through ARtificially Intelligent NeurotechnoloGy — held its Proposers' Day on June 8, 2026 and set Solution Summary deadlines for June 29 with Full Proposals due August 14. Single prime awardee, multiple Other Transaction Agreements, three integrated technical areas spanning intracortical recording and stimulation devices, wearable dynamic sound modulators, and AI-based auditory read/write algorithms. The first phase runs 18 months; the full effort runs 4.5 years through first-in-human clinical studies. For neurotech teams that have spent a decade in cochlear-implant or visual-prosthesis space, this is the moment the federal government bet on auditory cortex over the cochlea.
