The Nancy Lurie Marks Family Foundation is committed to understanding autism from a scientific perspective, increasing opportunities and services available to the autism community and educating the public about autism.

In pursuit of its mission, the Foundation develops and provides grants to programs in research, clinical care, policy, advocacy and education.

Advancing the Scientific Understanding of and Harnessing New Technologies for Autism Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), University of Pennsylvania Health System (UPHS) and the Perelman School of Medicine (Penn Medicine) A gift from the NLM Family Foundation, Eagles Autism Foundation, and Lurie Family Foundation to CHOP and Penn Medicine will establish the Lurie Autism Institute whose mission is to drive discoveries having a transformative impact on those living with autism spectrum disorder.

Autism Welcoming Library Certification Project Advocates/Autism Alliance of MetroWest The NLM Family Foundation has awarded a three-year grant to Advocates/Autism Alliance of MetroWest for the Autism Welcoming Library Certification Project . The Autism Welcoming initiative trains businesses and nonprofits to be more welcoming to individuals with autism.

The Library Certification Project was initiated by the Foundation to extend this work into public libraries, with a special focus on autistic adults and aging autistic adults.

United Nations Think Tank on Aging and Autism Autism Research Institute In partnership with the Autism Research Institute, the NLMFF provided support for a United Nations’ Think Tank on Aging and Autism which prioritized discussions around community living and health screening, aligned with international standards and guidelines, ensuring a comprehensive and inclusive approach to addressing the health and aging challenges faced by autistic adults.

Lurie Family Fund for the Neuro-Inclusive Oncology Care and Empowerment Program Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA The Neuro-Inclusive Oncology Care and Empowerment Program was developed to help Dana-Farber’s physicians and other providers treat cancer in people who have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD).

Berklee Music Lessons Program for Adults with Autism Berklee Institute for Accessible Arts Education (BIAAE), Berklee College of Music The Berklee Music Lessons Program for Adults with Autism provides free, online, weekly individual and group musical instrument lessons to adults on the autism spectrum.
