This fund supports a variety of community needs, including youth development and wellbeing, within the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation service area. It funds projects with a broad impact and measurable outcomes.

dave matthews band gives back The Bama Works Fund of Dave Matthews Band is administered by the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation. Established in 1999, the Bama Works Fund supports charitable programs primarily in the Charlottesville, VA area but has also responded to a wide variety of needs both nationally and internationally.

The band is committed to sustainable touring , protecting the environment, combating climate change, and has partnered with The Nature Conservancy's Plant a Billion Trees program, a global forest restoration effort with a goal of planting a billion trees across the planet. Along with Dave Matthews Band and its members, the fund has raised over $65M and made over 2500 grants.

Dave Matthews Band Bama Works Fund Awards $853,000 to 125 Nonprofits The Bama Works Fund of Dave Matthews Band at the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation is pleased to announce its Fall 2024 grant funding decisions, totaling $853,000 and supporting 125 nonprofits throughout the region.

With this round of grants, the Bama Works Fund continues its commitment to ensure that organizations in Charlottesville and the surrounding counties can continue their crucial work. Established in 1999, Bama Works has now awarded more than 3,300 grants totaling nearly $40 million to local organizations. Since its inception, the fund has operated under the philosophy that meaningful and long-lasting change begins in the community.

Dave Matthews Band is committed to helping plant another million trees with TNC The Dave Matthews Band Summer 2025 Tour has committed to help plant one million MORE trees with The Nature Conservancy's Plant a Billion Trees program, a global forest restoration effort. Dave Matthews Band’s ongoing partnership with The Nature Conservancy has resulted in five million trees being planted since 2020.

This year’s continued partnership will bring the total to 6 million trees. Fans can join in this mission by adding an optional donation of $2 per ticket to plant a tree with The Nature Conservancy’s Plant a Billion Trees campaign – a major forest restoration effort with the goal of planting a billion trees around the world.

DMB Supports Charlottesville’s Public Housing Redevelopment with $5 Million Contribution We’re pleased to share that with its 2018 hometown concerts, the band is seeking to rally support for the reinvestment in public and affordable housing in Charlottesville.

A portion of the proceeds from the John Paul Jones Arena shows will be included in the collective $5 million that Dave Matthews Band, Dave Matthews and Red Light Management will donate towards the renovation and/or replacement of all of the city’s public housing while building additional affordable housing.
